The siege of Seagard continues as the towers around the castle are already brought to shame by the amount of enemy siege towers erected during the long months. Even the odd morning fog every now and then wasn't enough to completely conceal them from the watchmen at the walls, who desperately looked for any signs of an attack.
The Ironborn were furious and as the siege has gone on, some have let this built up anger loose on their kinsmen in the form of an "accidental" fist to the face, or a dagger to the ribcage. Others have sneaked out during the night in hopes of killing a few of those bastards in their sleep before returning, though none have succeeded.
A few dozen men have perished because of this, and Asha is starting to lose her grip on the others. Her commanding skills have never been tested like this, and it angers her that the one place she is failing as a commander isn't even on the battlefield, but trapped inside these cursed walls with men whose nature goes against everything present.
Asha had hoped that Balon would have already sent more soldiers across to relieve the situation, and when they finally came, they did nothing to help. The Iron Fleet could be seen in the sea, but no soldiers ever landed.
As damaging as this was for the morale of the defenders, Asha understood the situation. Balon has surely ordered that none shall interfere with the siege. The Greenlanders have brought their cavalry, and facing them in the open would be suicide. Still Asha had this nagging sensation that Balon is also testing her, to see how well can she command the Ironborn against an enemy. This is no mere raid of a few coastal settlements. This is open war that she is been put into.
Whatever her father's true intentions are, Asha's anger is directed towards Walder Frey, who first denounces her claim to Seagard, and then refuses to attack the castle to make something out of it. Instead of offering his son Black Walder a glorious battle, he would rather have him and his whole army sit there and drown in horse . For the Drowned God's sake they have built more siege towers and ladders that can possibly fit the walls side by side! This man has made an enemy of a lifetime of Asha Greyjoy, who will have his head for this insult! If the old man only had the decency to face her or atleast order his son to act before he lies on his deathbed...
Asha couldn't take it anymore, so she ran to the north wall and cried out over the battlements "Death to Walder Frey you sick old !".
This lighted a spark that was very needed. Few men started shouting in agreement, which resulted in others to join and shout out "Death to Walder Frey". Not long until this spread among the men into a chant of rage that surely reached the ears of the Frey army.
By accident Asha had turned this into something useful, to direct the agression of men in dire need of killing. Henceforth it was that every morning the Ironborn chanted for the demise of the head of House Frey, followed by the rattle of swords against shields. The voice of Harlaw, Botley, Goodbrother and Greyjoy alike, together in a stone cage, mad with their captors.
Even the Iron Fleet eventually joined this after a few days, which made the Frey host uneasy, but still determined to continue the siege, for the annoyance of everyone involved.
But the battle will surely take place soon, and if the Frey's are even half the warriors than they are carpenters, the Ironborn will have no room for mistakes
