    Default Pro Curator

Essentially, what I'd like to propose, although I'll let the sharks feed at the suggestion and come up with exactly what they want, is an entirely elected pro-curator, who is a curial officer.

    Have at ye!

I'd much rather see an elected curator who can appoint deputies (pro-Curators) as required. It would allow the Curia to run and manage itself.

Added to that I'd like the Curator to have a seat on Hex (though with no powers over moderation or technical staff), but I'd settle for an elected Curator.

Don't ask for the little stuff, go all the way

I would like to see the position as it stands currently abolished altogether. All the Curia needs is one active individual invested with the powers to move bills when needed in a timely fashion and ensure that bills are properly formatted, free from basic errors, etc. This position should be elected and open to any member of the Patrician class. I would limit moderator powers to just the Prothalamos, Curia Vote and Tabularium.

The Staff position should merely be a conduit for the Curia to relay issues to Staff and vice versa and should have no say beyond a single vote in relation to the above position.

I agree with Mim's take on this with Tac's provision of being able to appoint deputies.

makes a lot of sense to me (though we'd have to accept Hex acceptance of any deputies as the deputies would have local mod powers).

I would subject the deputies to Curial ratification. As Hex has veto rights on elections and ratifications; anyone accepted without being vetoed would have implicit permission.

the Pro-Curator was merely an appointed deputy first created at a time when the Curator was absent and someone was needed to cover his duties.

We should elect a Curator, and he should only appoint a Pro-Curator if and whn he decides he needs one (such as if he's going on holiday, or to serve in the interim following the Curators resignation).

I think it neccessary, given how we plan for the Curia to shape up, that the Curator be an ex-officio non voting member of Hex.... even a voting Member if Hex so wishes...

I agree with the above, and also feel the that Curia should be given the ability to elect this officer - the rank is a purely Curial one, I am not sure why staff needs to be even tied to this at all. Let elections be free to all citizens (or perhaps patricians).

I believe the Curia should elect an admin as Curator (much like the Republican Consul of old) from the present staff/Hex like the RC.

why on earth would we want to do that? The whole idea is to bring a fresh perspective into Hex, someone not staff......

I believe the best method is presented by Ttacticalwithdrawal. As the Curia regrows its balls, we will want a voice in Hex as well as a Hexer responsible for the Curia and Hex-Curia communication; logiclally this should be the same person. Furthermore they should, as a representative of the Curia, be elected therefrom. Finally they should be able to ask for a deputy to be elected by the Curia as and when required, for a limited time.
