Registry

The Official TWC Mod Registry:

A listing of all registered mods, which provides the usage permissions that creators have allowed for their work at TWC. The permissions defined in this list, while not legally binding outside of TWC, are binding and enforceable at TWC by any and all TWC staff.

Should a member wish to have their mod or work listed on the registry, the member must submit an application to the registrar, stating their name what they do, any work they have released, and their wishes as to how their work is used.¹

Administrative Structure

Official Forum: An official forum located in the capitol, shall be created for the registry and all of its associated inquiries, applications, disputes and judgements.

Registrar The registrar shall be an officer of the curia. He/She shall be responsible for maintaining the registry, answering questions about the registry and resolving disputes between members concerning the registry in a fair and impartial manner. The registrar will be provided with the necessary moderator powers in the registry forum by the hexagon council, so that the registrar may be able to carry out his or her duties.

Elections: The registrar shall be elected by the curia to a term of no longer than three months.
When the position of registrar is deemed vacant, the curator shall post a qualification thread in the curia main forum, calling for applicants. After a period of no less than five and no more than seven days, this thread shall be closed and an election in the curia votes forum shall take place amongst the applicants.
Removal: If the Hexagon council feels the registrar has acted in an inappropriate manner or has neglected his/her duties, they may elect to remove the registrar and hold new elections.

1: Permission statements

This list of permission categories for work, for members to choose from when registering their mods, shall be posted and stickied in the official registry forum.

Personal use only.

This means that the creator wishes that under no circumstances can elements of their work be included in other mods, Permission may be sought but refusal is likely.

Free to use.

This means that all elements of the Creators work are free to use, though it is common courtesy to give accreditation.

permission by request only.

This means that permission must be sought to use any elements of the creators work, this is to cover instances where the creator wishes to keep certain elements (ie; use of names) at their discretion.

Accreditation

It is common courtesy to give accreditation to any work done by another modder which is included in your work.

I also intend to re-propose the Curial Officer's Bill in conjunction with this bill and another one

We need to iron out a few things, and the old thread is well past its lifetime, so let's redebate a bit here...

Also, I've put this in the curia main because I just don't feel there are enough modders in the Prothalamos to discuss this...

Its a good thing to get a collection of information about mods and what the makers will allow to use from their Mods and with what conditions. But wouldnt it be better to compile the information in somewhere in the modding section,rather then Capitol? In my wiew closer the information is to potential user then better.

I agree with this proposal. User made lists of modifications seem to start off with a bang, but slowly die as their creator loses interest (for whatever reason), and updates are few and far between. It is, in fact, something that has bothered me lately, as I have tried to get FATW/CI listed with no luck. Usage permissions is a very good idea, IMO, and I believe the Org made something similar not too long ago. Maybe some sort of cross-site cooperation in this field would be possible?

I aint very important but i support this idea, it will be of a great help for people wanting to use work from missing people who are no longer around but made provisions for this.

I'd tend to agree about the location, but I guess we can have stickied links to it in the relevant mod forums?

I think that in order to get people over to the capitol, what we can do, is either as Makanyane said, put stickies on the top of all the parent modding forums, or alternatively, put some sort of redirect in the parent modding forums....

Instead of creating a permanent post for this kind of job I say that whenever individuals are prepared to take it upon themselves, they make a proposal to that effect. We can then have a discussion/vote on whether we consider the initiative worthwhile and the proposed personnel capable of the task.

Well as three members of the modding community have said and in light of other discussions i would like the proposal changed.

In truth i wanted this in the TW from the outset, but in the hope of getting modders into the Curia....., Now in hind site i don't see the need for this to be located in the Capitol, in fact i see the TW as being a far better location. Possibly in the mod community forums should that pass.

I support, I see this is a definite benefit to the site and to getting modders more interested in the curia and site governance (as the two are becoming, once more, inextricably entwined).
