Its indeed Käthe Kollwitz "Grieving Parents" in Vladsvo/Belgium. You both got rep.
On the 22 October 1914 Käthe's youngest son Karl was killed in the age of only 18 as volunteer (with permission of his father) near Dixmuiden/Belgium.
1915 she began to work on the statues, but destroyed their first version in 1919, she began again in 1925 and in 1932 the statues were placed in Roggevelde.
For me its her most impressive expressionist work. No stupid pathos. No putting her son in the middle of the scene. You can literally feel the grief of the parents.
She is THE female german artist of the 19/20. century.

Hint: the artist had another artwork with the same name later on during his life, and the second one is much more famous than this one (it's considered to be one of their signature artworks).

Second hint
Extremely famous artist from the Italian Renaissance, he was eclectic, even if his major field of contributions is sculpture.

Well looks like that's harder than expected.. as I said the author is one of the 4 legendary Renaissance artists, and he's the eldest one (three of them are from the following generation).
As mentioned, this artwork is from his youth, and he made another one, with the same title, later on during his life. This one is made of stone, the other one is made of bronze
There's also a rather famous Prize in Italy named as this artwork

Statue of David by Donatello (Not to be confused with the more famous and marbled one by Michelangelo).

ah, finally
Anyways, this is the artwork I was referring to, precisely

Ah I really love Bosch!
This is definitely the The Garden of Earthly Delights triptych from Hieronymus Bosch
Bosch was very much ahead of his times, both in contents and in techniques, we had to wait 350 years before seeing something similar again

Yep, this particular piece by Bosch (Particularly the pictured right panel of the piece) intrigued me greatly, enough to put up here. Your turn.

Hint: the author is a famous portraitist (including many nudes); this work in particular is portraying another artist

I have to admit I didn't know Nolan, and that's strange considering he's rather famous. Interesting art.
I was puzzled at the beginning since I thought this was war scene, but ultimately the figure with square head helped me in the research This is the Death of Constable Scanlon from the Ned Kelly Series (Kelly's the dude in black with that square head).
