    Icon5 Sauron unit editing problem in DAC 4.6

    I made another thread about this in the Third age sub forum, but i am posting here too in order to maximise my chances to get an answer. And besides, it's about text editing so it's fair game.

    Recently I've been editing the Mordor roster of Divide And Conquer 4.6 to my liking and I can say that I'm little displeased with the Sauron bodyguard unit.
    I am trying to alter it to be like the Massive Overhaul Submod 1.7 one (it's probably the same in vanilla TATW but i wouldnt know since I have never played it) which has a single elephant type Sauron unit.Attachment 366108
    I've made the supposedly appropriate changes in EDU and unit_models files. Everything seems to be in order, but the game crashes upon launch after I make the EDU alterations.

    I also noticed that "unit_sprites/sicily_eeents_infantry_sprite.spr" is missing in both mods but it seems to work properly without it in MOS 1.7.

    Am I missing anything, or is it just not possible to add that unit in DAC 4.6?

    I am fairly sure these parts are custom, too:

    mounted_engine elephant_serpentine (descr_mounted_engines)
    mount sauron (descr_mounts)

    Note that 'soldier' and 'armour_ug_models' use different models. Check if the animations of either are custom, too.
    And DaC might have disabled sprites, so better put some sprites in.

    Thanks for the reply Gigantus!

    In (descr_mount) mount sauron was already there.
    I checked the animations of the soldier models using "M2TW Animation Tool" and they seemed to be the same as they are the same size in KB.
    I made some new sprites using your much appreciated tutorial and replaced them with the existing ones in (unit_spites).

    Despite all of this I still get a crash.
    Idk what else to do.

    I'd look at stat_pri lines and compare them. Why did you change it for your mod?

    That is a very good point Bitterhowl. This happened because I didn't copy paste the entire unit entry, only all the parts that differ. Unfortunately, due to my lack of attention, I completely missed this detail.
    Thanks a lot for taking the time to carefully view my post and point out this anomaly!

    I'll post an update soon.

    I finally got this to work! In the decr_mount.txt file of DAC, the sauron entry name is "creature_sauron".
    I simply made the change in EDU
    from:
    mount sauron
    to:
    mount creature_sauron

    I got mislead from MOS where it's simply "sauron", and assumed it would be the same in DAC.
