As i found no such thread with a quick search, i thought it is time for a thread for daily quotes/proverbs/sayings:

Great inititiative, Morty! I am not entirely sure if understand it correctly, but I assume it means that we are affectionately critical of the people closest to us.

Another interpretation takes me to the saying "kill your darlings", meaning that we too often get too infatuated with our own ideas. Often it would be preferable to let others improve on our ideas and let them develop into something better than the original proposition.

Here's a contribution from my mom.

Thanks! Now I understand and actually agree. A person should not seek attention and acceptance of others at the cost of their own dignity or moral integrity.

On a related note, although the icecream thing is meant as a humorous one, I disagree with it. As my survival or wellbeing at present is not dependent on the amount of icecream I get, I would much more enjoy sharing my icecream with friends than eating all of it by myself.
