Divide and Conquer 4.6 install issues

Hi all, apologize if this isn't posted in the correct spot, I'm a bit new here.

So I installed Kingdoms off Steam, and then ran the DaC 4.6 installer. I installed it to the correct spot, as seen in the video:

In the mods folder, I see DaC and everything looks great. When I launch from the icon on my desktop (DaC icon), vanilla Medieval 2 launches and not DaC. I tried the bat file in the mods folder for DaC, same thing. I reinstalled everything a couple times, same result. What am I doing wrong?

I just installed Third Age 3.2 just to see if it behaves differently, no dice. I follow the install instructions online and then when I launch from the desktop icon, regular Medieval II launches. I dont understand what I am doing wrong here....
