Hey,
First off LT would like to say that I love the mod. There are a few things I wanted to point out versus what the houserules/ readme.
I took a greek huge city (with a greek palace) and destroyed what I could, after looking at the settlement details I realized that the palace, which I could not destroy, is throughout my campaign always going to cause either 25% or 35% of culture penalty. Now don't get me wrong, it's not a huge deal but it is strange that I thought to myself 'I can destroy their god but not their palace?'. It's kind of unsettling to me, is it possible to remove that penalty for governors palace/royal palaces?
Which brings me to my next issue. Urban Cohort. I compaired the difference between that unit and lets say sword auxilia. They cost the same, except sword auxilia have way better stats to keep a garrison of 1 or 2 in your cities while your out on your campaign. In other words, the urban cohort is too weak, or too small. For retired legioneers I expected them to pack a punch, but I even with max experience it would be a strategic error to use them because they are too weak and dont compair to sword auxilia :hmmm:. I know you said they supply their own equipment but their defense skill should at least be increased due to being former legioneers.
Destroying other cultures... In history the romans never truely had to destroy anothers culture, only romanize it. I've been destroying temples since I started the game, which I hate doing, I would rather leave a garrison and call this city roman, start building over some of their buildings and move onto my next objective. I understand why it was done however, it makes for a longer harder game. It's just that the campaign seems a little too hard. Once I take a city I literally have to destroy everything to mantain control, which the computer loves because he knows I can't use that city as a supply point and likes to attack it.
Last but not least the Roman Calvary. No offense, but they just look odd, I am not a history expert, but I like a little bit of 'fantasy' mixed in as well, to me it looks like they are wearing a bowl on their head not a helmet. LoL.That's just me, I thought maybe they could have a better look, maybe some branded armor or something. I actually think they would look great as legioneers on horseback without the helmet.
Having played most other mods I think this to be one of the best. Now here is what I love about this mod:
Unlike other mods you create actual 'legions' that are named giving you the feeling that this is a true roman campaign. On top of that, I love how with a first cohort you can actually see someone carrying the eagle or on a regular unit you see the roman banner. Very cool.![]()
No more huge walls. Thank you thank you thank you. Good idea.
Spartans fight to the death. Now how cool is that? I love it.
Onagers seem to fire faster. Is it just me or do they? If you increased the speed I applaud you for it. I thought onagers in regular game were slow, maybe 5-6 shots before the enemy was in your face.
Love the mod, think I'll go back to playing for a bit.
