Default Anyone have good economic tips?

    Can you list them?

The only one I can think of the is the mass exploitation of 'Gold Forts' in Timbuktu, no need to explain that one, its pretty popular around here.

Farms. In any slow game whatsoever - Anno Domini is a good example - you cannot lose by building the first farming upgrade in every town you own right off the bat. The potential military disadvantage you put yourself at will quickly be offset, if the need for troops is that urgent, by all those delicious mercs you'll be able to afford to hire, if not by the fact that you actually don't put yourself that far back.

Easy: use only 2 or 3 castles to build a mobile defense army and make the rest of settlements cities.

Keep the taxes always to the max possible. Will keep squalor under control.

Trade rights with the faction you're gonna attack somehow very later. Go build ports, farms, and markets. Hate to say this, but get merchants, too. Have 3 castles specializing in one field of units each, too. That's it, I think.

Or you could just blockade antioch, jerusalem, gaza, constantople, and nicea you'll get all of their sea trade and substantial income bonus from trade.
Also keep garrisons inside cities very low so if you get 5 free upkeep units only use 7 units to garrison (face it ai will never even breach the wall so 20 units aren't nesscary) March your armies on enemies borders and your army will continuealy pilage the place thus adding to your income. March armies on enemies roads that way you will destroy enemy trade and get 1\4 of the enemies trade by land. And always try and have only 2-3 castles in your ENTIRE kingdom that way you'll make atleast 20+k every turn no matter how much money you spend.....trust me i'm playing as turks i can't get rid of the amount of money i'm getting....

Get trade rights, build roads, markets, and especially ports. Also use ships to your advantage and take merchants to Constantinople to trade silk and the Middle East to control the spices, cotton, and sugar around Cairo and Antioch, oh and the silk in Baghdad. Take over a city in the M.E. that's relative safe from the Mongols (Cario, Alexandria, Jedda, maybe Gaza or Tunis) and just pumped Merchants from it. You can easily get merchants who make 700+ a turn if your a western european nation. Keep taxes on high or normal, your generals will get bad tax traits if you have them in cities with low or very high rates. Make sure you don't keep huge amounts of units who are paying upkeep in your cities, I like to keep between 3 and 6 militia units at most in my cities. Troops who aren't fighting are a waste of money.

    Economics 101:

-Always make sure to move and create trade rights with everyone, if you intend on war or not. While you are friendly with them, at least you can profit off them.

-Farms, docks, and merchant buildings are musts in any income generating city.

-Limit the number of castles to 1 for every 5 or so cities. If you can, try to only have one per empire front. Castles are a drain on the economy in many ways: no in-garrison upkeep savings, less money generating buildings, and lower income period. Remember, they are built for power, not money.

-In wars, blockade ports. Stop their trade and make some money doing it.

-Never leave unnecessary troops about. Always restrengthen or disband when they are depleted.

-Optional*: Send merchants around the world OR better yet, make alliances for distant cities. Ex. If you are England, take Dongola from Egypt and make it a "Merchant Capital". With the resources there you can easily make 1500+ in no time.

-Diplomacy: Whenever someone else comes to you requesting something, it means they want it. That means they will pay $$$ for it. Make them pay a little and line your pockets.

-If you have a city you don't want or can't defend, sell it to any faction, enemy or friend. To an enemy for peace, to a friend for lining the pockets.

-Finally, after a war, share some love. Peace and trade rights are a sure way to pick up a little income.

    ------------------------------

Hope some of this helped. I noticed others posted some of the same things, but I thought I'd summarize.

"War is but the first step to peace."

Lol niceley put and remember that you could always steal enemies trade in lots of way, pilageing, stealing land trade, and just causeing rebellions in their areas and you can do all that by placeing armies on roads, close to enemy cities you don't plan to lay siege (yet) and just leave your armies there long enough then there will be TONS of rebellions in their empire.

You can also do all of the above to allies if you have military access armies have to eat too so they pilage from the allies territory so you get some of your allies farming income and road trades along with causes a hell of alot of rebellions in the lands and causeing huge amounts of devestation So weaken them more then 100 year old pork rinds before you backstab them like the swine you are
