Family Members and Generals - Scripting query

My question is this:

Is it possible to create a general who is not related to your faction leaders family line, but will appear on the family tree scroll? The general would need to be a named character, and capable of having heirs, but not be a blood relation nor hold an adopted link.

I dimly remember something like this in TFT's Caesar campaign with Cicero's son, and possibly my namesake.

Please advise.
