Remember when Rome was hugely popular in multi-player with lots of Clans and lots of game being played. I miss those days. Do you think we will see it again with the Remastered edition?

Don't bank on it aside from a first day splurge. If it grows over time though, we'll have to see.

I expect a first day spree, a few small groups coming about, but the masses ultimately sticking to later games for MP unless something uniquely charming comes out of the Remaster.

the modders will make the difference.
If a large community is resurrected, then Rome remastered will last over time.
However already from the first announcement my mind returned to those days.

Europe Barbarum, Call of Warhammer, Stainless Steel... all without units, limits and region limits as already stated by the remakers they will be lifted.

To me, Europe Barbarum was the ultimate mod for Rome I.

I played Rome at an early age, but I never did touch multiplayer. I didn't even touch modding until much later.

In any case yes, mods will indeed make the difference. What encourages me most above all is an official, pro-modder stance and willingness to work with them on the title. That is more valuable to me than any particular assurance, and even more so when there are good assurances coming from the sides. But like the old days, I'll stick to a good campaign run before any of that.

    This!
that's what we all expect and hope for.
Everyone I guess will have their dream overhaul in mind.
For example I hope for a mod about Troy

If it resembles modding in the original, this is more than possible. I believe modeling would be the biggest hold-up for ambitious folk, but even that can be learned or attracted. Perhaps coming up with a few ideas and getting some new teams going for creative vision would be a good start.

They did stated yesterday that they are shooing away the faction and region limits.... maybe they will also do the same with the religion and units limits. Can't remember if Rome had cultures or if is only Med 2.
