Something different today, "Young Snoop", artwork for my friends YT channel (video backdrop):

You guys know that feeling when you stumble upon something you forgot ever existed?
I just had a major deja vu, or whatever that is, seeing this by accident:
Now let me explain, its a screenshot from an ancient game, Medieval 1, and from a mod called Pike&Musket, i believe.
This unit on the screenshot was actually made by me, along with few others. I completely forgot i participated in that project, but you know it was like 20 years ago...
I remember it was developed at the Org, back when it was still alive. Which now makes me realise, i was a modder already before i joined twc.
Whoa, that Snoop backdrop is amazing! A red Tupac would look cool too I think

Thanks! A red Tupac? Yeah could be cool, but the buddy i made it for didnt want Tupac. He wants one more Snoop tho, like more contemporary, older Snoop, but there can be more of those works later down the line.
Right now im working on something different, a troll helmet for some (Gundabad i think) troll model that will look something like this:

Well, its a not so high quality mini in this pic, so the 3d model will actually look better imho, but thats the general helmet design you see here. Im making it for Leo and his Third Age TW mod. Im making also weapons for this model, a club and a mace i think.

What i have so far:
Adjusted the eye holes and the mouth slits/holes, and welded few remaining unwelded vertices:
This texture is also not yet finished, there will be some changes and adjustments when im done with the model 100%.

Finished items:
They are not scaled right, so they will be rescaled later as required later when added to the troll model.
The wood texture is a bit off to me

I agree with Akar. For that kind of item, if you really want a nice result, you need to do it yourself from scratch.
Another point that might also help is to divide your item in several groups and then to assign the texture. Then, merge them again. It can help to avoid the streching effect.

Thanks for your feedback guys!
That club is essentially a twisted cylinder that was mapped before it was twisted (the spikes were mapped separately), so the texture stretching is not because of texture mapping but vertices manipulation afterwards. Could be probably adjusted like in a minute.
As for the texture mapping, i try to avoid additional work as much as possible. I mean if i did a 4 sides map nobody would even notice that most likely so its generally not worth the efforts.
OOOOOO Nice stuff! Might I suggest a texturing program that would help you immensely? It's Quixel Mixer and it's absolutely free and would help you add some nice additional details.

Working on a series of roman themed portraits, from legionary to emperor, this piece will be part of a "special" design:
Why is it golden?
