Thread: Question regarding hesitant attacker

    Default Question regarding hesitant attacker

I've gotten this trait on two of my most bloodthirsty generals. What are the circumstances that prompt hesitant attacker and overly cautious attacker traits?

You get a chance of acquiring that trait when you end turn in an enemy army's red tile. It might even trigger if you end a turn in a neutral army's red tile. To avoid this always carefully check your campaign map movements so that you can reach your destinations

Awesome. Easy to do. Does it count for sieges too or just armies?

Probably both, so don't park your general in the zone of an enemy settlement

On the flipside, how do your characters become good and great attackers/defenders/besiegers?

You could open up export_descr_character_traits.txt and Control-F "GoodAttacker", "GoodDefender" and other traitlines you're interested in. Here's the non-Ethnicity triggers for good attacker:

    Trigger forcedmarching_high_energy_high_temperament WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd

    Condition Trait ForcedMarching > 0
    and Trait NaturalEnergy > 3
    and Trait Temperament > 3
    and Trait CommandExperience > 1

    Affects Excited 1 Chance 10
    Affects GoodAttacker 1 Chance 10
    Trigger Attacker_Victory_good WhenToTest PostBattle

    Condition IsGeneral
    and WonBattle
    and WasAttacker
    and not I_ConflictType Siege
    and PercentageEnemyKilled > 20
    and Trait BattlePoints > 3
    and Trait BadAttacker < 1

    Affects GoodAttacker 1 Chance 100

Temperament > 3 is been unselfish or optimistic?

The other option seems pretty straightforward, actually guaranteed when winning a decent non siege battle on the attack.

We will either find a way, or make one.

I guess you are out of luck if your general has forced marching expert .
