Thread: 2021 Essential Mods

    Default 2021 Essential Mods

With a new year and a new DEI version, I've updated all my Rome 2 mods to create the optimal TWR2 experience. I wanted to list them here, as well as invite those who have their own "must have" mod list to share theirs. Without further ado:

    Difficulty

    • Campaign: Normal/Hard
    • Battle: Normal

    Gameplay

    • Divide Et Impera: Transforms Rome 2 into the best simulation of classical combat available to man
    • Age of Hellenism: Makes the Diadochi rome-tier. Fun if you want a more historically accurate campaign
    • Cultural Tension: Culture becomes a bigger part of gameplay

    Graphics

    Immersion & QoL

that's really interesting, it's pretty much time we would like to build a submod repository with short descriptions, compatibility and update status

Cultural Tensions is for people who dislike the tendency for steamrolling once you've reached critical momentum (it'll still happen eventually but probably later, slowing down conversion rates means you have to stay and pacify newly conquered foreign regions which will suffer more PO problems and take many more turns before you can recruit your native units.

Aaa mod collection of benjin also is interesting gives u a new experience. Tho it's really tough to use or not to use caz dei base general vmds are awesome. The government screen ui mod is nothing big but adds small interesting details. Also my cyrene pack

Great list! Gonna try alot of them out today. Most of them should be save game compatible i would assume.

Could u maybe add a suggested load order of these mods? Especially the "Must Haves"?

Which combination of mods are best for slow gameplay? I like a very slow game as small factions. I use the following, but I'm eager to see if there's a better combination that allows for slow gameplay:

    Turtle_02_Buildings_Huge
    Turtle_03_Technology_Huge
    Turtle_06_Experience_Huge
    Turtle_07_Reforms_Huge
    Turtle_08_Population_Huge

Testudo absolutely belongs here. It made more significant changes to DEI than anything else I have played. Making the campaign MUCH more of a challenge without just buffing the AI more. Of course there's still plenty of features that would be nice and a few that are in that maybe would be better without or different, but working with the engine has its limitations. (Warscore would be nice)

Aside from that some standards that I can no longer play without regardless of a submod like Testudo, realism etc..

    These are necessary:

An alternative to OBIS that's much more performance friendly:

Alternate hoplite is also great, unfortunately doesn't work with Testudo...

gnosis89 none of your links work for me.

Also, in a nutshell, what does Testudo do? Everytime I try and understand it I'm overwhelmed by all the features.

slower paced submod, more focused on strategical things rather than battles
    + some custom features
it usually requires a learning curve

better to wait for next release imo
2/3 weeks, a month at max
it really depends on rl since I've begun being busy lately

    Jake,

Do you think the turtle parts work with the new update or should I wait on that too?

    Thanks,

Updated links and posting them here:

These are necessary: (As in battles are incredibly lack luster without them to me now)

would like to know animation mods do not break the game?

Does anyone know if there is a mod that increases unit recruitment times? If found an older mod on steam (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfil...?id=1681362306) but not sure if it works well (or is probably outdated now). I'm curious about how slowing the time it takes for armies to form will help with CAI expansion.

    Thanks
