Default Long Campaign vs. Short Campaign

Which do you believe, in overall quality, play, and goal set, is easier to play?

Since you get 225 turns to accomplish each goal, I'd think that short campaign is better to play, because after you accomplish the pain-in-the-butt goals, you can just go ahead and fell free to conquer the world.

The annoying part of the short campaign is keeping tabs on the factions you must destroy.

So, with that in mind, which campaign do you find more satisfying, and why?

But isn't that your ultimate goal? :hmmm:

To fulfill the campaign requirements; capturing certain number of territories and destroying factions -or- specific settlements?

After 225 turns is over, doesn't your time expire?

In order to fulfill the games own standards for victory yes it expires but you can play on.

I really see no need to constrain myself to set rules in the game. I will do what I want, when I want, and no body not even the Pope can stop me. I guess some people might enjoy trying to do the established goals but I'd rather just play the game by my own rules.

    Wait...

So, if the time expires, and you haven't completed your goals; you can still go on?

But what's the reward if you complete the campaign?

By the way, I've already unlocked all the empires using the text-editing maneuver.

And is there any way I can turn off the 'turn' system? I still want the dates and turn number, but I don't want the 'turn remaining' thing to be active.

So, if I've already unlocked the empires, is there any benefit to paying attention to the turns left?

Don't I also get the pretty video when I capture every settlement in the world?

If it looks like I can complete the objectives then I will, but for the most part I just set my own goals and follow them; e.g. as a Muslim faction I might seek to gain 20 regions and hold all the holy places, as Denmark I might try to take all the nearby rebel settlements and then invade the British isles, and so on.

it depends on the mood i'm in. If i'm having a colossal ego trip, i usually look to global domination, so the long campaign. But i'f i want a in-depth with a bit of role-playing to make it a bit more realistic i go short-campaign.

the problem that i have is i instinctively blitz, which ruins the short campaign.

I'll probably do the short campaign to make things easier and brighter; and plus, at a certain point in my last Egypt campaign, I nearly destroyed the Turks and Byzantines, I left them both to only two settlements each!

I play the short campaign, because I mostly play hotseat games as opposed to single-player ones. With the short campaign, there are plenty enough territories to go around for everyone (that I play with) and we can even gang up on enemies to make the game go faster.

I never play to complete the goals. I play to survive to the end, with about 5-10 regions, which make it more of a challange than to become a superpower and win every battle which ruins the game.

That's why I miss the Glorius Achievements from MTW, they was so much more fun

Those were cool. Overal 2 is better then 1 in my book, but there were a lot of little campaign features such as that, that I will never understand why they left out of 2.
