No help for it at this point. I think Biden is smart to move the date back a bit. That way the vaccine roll out and economic will (as I assume his team thinks) make the Taliban's victory seem like small news.

The reality is I can't see any really way this would not have worked out the same no matter what. Maybe had Bush Jr not chosen the Iraq adventure and a global war on terror but just one war in A-stan - maybe? But with Pakistan always a refugee for the Taliban and powerful vested state interests there lurking about still seems like a long shot. Maybe if this were a different time and the US could simply declared Afghanistan a US territory in perpetuity and we were not going to leave (than the more local elites would have the incentive to deal).... etc etc with requisite very visible penalties for anyone who did not play ball. Than maybe but that is not how things work anymore.

I hope Biden will hand out the green cards like candy to people who likely a dead afghans walking for supporting the US in Afghanistan.

As implemented they actually were intentionally routed through otherwise fairly well running minority neighborhoods. Chopping them up and killing the social fabricate of them.

Pretty sure Buttigieg (sp?) did not say that. Is your post a troll?

Silly misrepresentation aside, this might a fair example of institutional racism, where past decisions made with apparent racist intent impact society, and there is little or no formal process to redress them.

Looking at the facts I see you are 100% correct. A great example. Daily mail being a msm site catering to idiots who can’t cope with the real should have tipped me off.

Here is a link to Secretary Buttigieg's actual remarks (as helpfully provided by the Daily Mail):

    https://thegrio.com/2021/04/06/pete-...e/?jwsource=cl

They appear to be more nuanced and considered than Enoch's perhaps overly concise summary would suggest and, if approached with an open mind, are not without at least a modicum of truth .

It is well to bear in mind that this is the critic that is most prominently mentioned (at least by Enoch's referenced article) as in opposition to Secretary Buttigieg's point of view:

I can't wait to see the Democrats in the House team up with Liz Cheney to prevent Biden's withdrawl of Afghanistan like they did here:

If they don't, well, they were grandstanding in support of wasting American lives to stick it to Trump.

Calendrically speaking, April 30th marks the end of President Biden's 100 days. What then this thread?

On that blessed day, all poor children will become just as inteligent as the white children, and Cornpop will receive a just punishment for his wicked ways.

Typical that poor white children are left out. This is why it makes sense to save all the whites from poverty first. Then help everyone else. It’s easier to cope with one thing at a time.

Vice Accomplice Kackala Harris finally got around to making a presser on the border situation. She announced that she was going to the root cause of the problem in the Northern Triangle. This may prove problematic for two reasons. First, it's not entirely clear she knows where the Northern Triangle is. Secondly, one of the countries in the triangle is not on speaking terms with the Xiden Dictatorship because it was snubbed by Xiden on a recent trip to Washington:

In other news, as predicted, the Russians are clearly preparing for an invasion of Ukraine and the Chinese are making no bones about invading Taiwan.

Pro Trump people should be pleased, two of his clearest foreign policy goals of weakening Europe in Russia’s favor and weakening US influence in East Asia are paying off.

Few would have expected this last chapter of the US military mission to read like this: a triumphal Taliban poised to return to power on the battlefield or through peace talks where they hold most of the cards; much-vaunted "gains" slipping away by the day in a wave of targeted killings of the educated, active, and ambitious lifeblood of an emerging society.
Many Afghans now fear a terrible tumbling towards civil war in a conflict already described as one of the most violent in the world.

"I worry most when timelines are attached to their pullout, but not conditions," regrets an Afghan human rights activist. "The Taliban will just wait them out and won't get into substantive issues."

It's a view echoed by others.

"I wish President Biden had conditioned the troop withdrawal timeline with zero killings on the ground by all parties between May and September," reflects Orzala Nemat, director of the Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit (AREU).

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-56741106
Speaker of the lower house of the parliament (Wolesi Jirga), Mir Rahman Rahmani on Wednesday has given a pessimistic view saying the U.S. troop withdrawal would pose a possible civil war in Afghanistan.

“The withdrawal of troops was one of the wishes of Afghans for a longtime but considering the deteriorating security situation, the ground is yet to be paved for troops to pull out,” Rahmani said, following the Washington Post report about the U.S. President Biden’s decision to exit troops by September 11 this year, which is also the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attack.

    http://www.afghanistantimes.af/rahma...s-exit-rashly/
The obvious downsides and lack of coherent upsides makes this one quite a puzzle. If it’s political, Biden could have withdrawn on Sept 11, 2024. If the idea is to toss a live grenade in China’s lap, the unknown unknowns hardly justify the known knowns and unknowns of the unmitigated disaster that is about to unfold. After witnessing the consequences of a lack of any real exit strategy in Iraq, it’s amazing to me the guy who spoke of those consequences in explicit support of increasing USM presence in Afghanistan would now cynically pull the plug. In 2007, he again advocated for a troop surge. He even went so far as to say rebuilding Afghanistan is “incredibly cheaper” than the alternative. Now, he seems to say, we can diplomacy the Taliban to death. Unbelievable.

The withdrawal of US soldiers will coincide with the departure of several thousand NATO troops. Full blown civil war is certain, and a Taliban victory almost as certain. 20 years of blood and treasure down the drain, for better or worse.

Hmmm, so you think the Russians are just now stacking up troops on Ukraine's border because Trump made NATO pay some of the money it owed. A little review is necessary. Obama offered the Ukrainians blankets for defense and the Russians took Crimea. Trump gave the Ukrainians anti-tank weapons and the Russians did nothing.

Now Secretary Xiden orders two destroyers to the Black Sea and then backs downs and recalls them after Russian threats. It's pretty obvious how this is going to end up and blaming Trump is going to make the left look stupid.

All those Europeans that were denouncing Trump better get used to some Russian neighbors and it will be on Xiden.

Anti-tanks missiles that are stored in Western Ukraine. And only about 100 of them. That's not even remotely enough to stop a Russian offensive.

Ukraine lost Crimea because it had a total of 6000 combat ready soldiers in 2014 and that's it. It's army was in shambles.

If the Russians do try something the Ukrainians will fare much better than 2014, but still lose. They still have a long way before they have a competent military.
