Well, I believe the Battle of Dorylaeum and the Battle at Hattin were scheduled to be included in the list of historical battles, but didn't make it into the final version.

However, the entire voiceset for these battles are still within the game, so if a mod team wanted to restore these two battles they could make it just like the other CA made battles.

This one. If this wasn't important, then I don't know what is imporant anymore.

    The Siege of Belgrade (Nandorfehervar)

After the fall of Constantinople in 1453, Ottoman sultan Mehmed II was rallying his resources in order to subjugate the Kingdom of Hungary. His immediate objective was the border fort (Hungarian végvár) of the town of Belgrade (in old Hungarian Nándorfehérvár). John Hunyadi, a nobleman and warlord of Vlach lineage, who fought many battles against the Ottomans in the previous two decades, expected just such an attack.

The siege eventually escalated into a major battle, during which Hunyadi led a sudden counterattack that overran the Turkish camp, ultimately compelling the wounded Sultan Mehmet II to lift the siege and retreat. The siege of Belgrade "decided the fate of Christendom"

The noon bell ordered by Pope Callixtus III commemorates the victory throughout the Christian world to this day.
Although I can see the reason not adding any historical siege battles. The sieges simply aren't working well in the game.

Horsearcher, I d say that the battle that decided the faith of the christandom actually took place 200 years later when Ottoman Empire was even more powerful. I am of course talking about the Siege of Vienna from 1683. Now getting back on the subject of historical battles I would like to see in the game then most definitely some of the battles agaisnt Mongols. Eiher the christian defeat at Legnica, or battle of Muhi.

The game isn't really a historical simulator, so I don't think personally it does historical battles that well. You're also stuck with the pregenerated maps. What I feel they could have done with M2TW was add the capability of choosing a terrain by selecting a campaign map location, like the game does when you fight campaign battles. This wouldn't be a perfect terrain generator, but it would be good, and not that difficult to implement, IMO.

The Battle of Hattin is there though, or am I mistaken? The one where Richard fights Saladin on the coast.

You are mistaken, that battle of which you are talking is Arsuf, Hattin was a disastrous battle (for christendom) in which Saladin fought the Kingdom of Jerusalem, leaded by Guy de Lusignan

edit: in this battle the True Cross was taken by Saladin's army

I recommend if you haven't seen the move Kingdom of Heavan TO SEE IT.
the Battle of Hattin is at towards the end.. it has some hollywood drama in it. but the storyline is true to a point... (Godfrey of Ibalin dying of a fatal arrow wound while returning from France; The Leper King's truce with Saladin, Guy's utter defeat after he became King(battle of Hattin) then Saladin sparing the Lives of of all christians in Jerusalem.. and the Queen disappearing after this and not returning to her thrown in Acre/Antioch or Tripoli which were still the Kingdom of Jerusalem..

this move rocks for Medieval history fans.. the battle sceneds and the Seige of Jerusalem is epic..
the move is a little long but very good.

While the movie is very entertaining, it is terribly inaccurate. That "Epic siege of Jerusalem" never happened. NEVER. I was quite disappointed to see how Hollywood butchered the Crusades when there were plenty of excellent sieges and battles they could have featured.

the seige dramatized why Saladin did not kill the christians in the city.
however the armies did meet at Kerak and DID not fight that is fact. the battle of Hattin should have been played out but they wanted to show you the ignorance of Guy marching his army straight at Saladin(losing 1/4 of his army on the way(fact)due to lack of water.. Guy was no military leader.. this battle could have been shown but more dramtic to just show the total defeat without the fight..

this movie was based during and towards the end of the Peace Baldwin had brokered with Saladin hence NO mega crusade battles till after his death. not sure what you think they should have shown here.. since the movie ended before Richard's crusade.. and after the 2nd crusade..

    You are joking right?
Historical accuracy is not this movie's strong point. As for the battle of Hattin it isn't even shown in the movie. Only the aftermath. The siege of Jerusalem is made in such a cheesy Hollywood way you just wanna throw up. They don't even mention that Balian asked Saladin for permission to lead the defence of Jerusalem. Many many many other errors. Not to mention application of todays moral and social code to medieval times. Balian the hero. The just. Come one...

iam buzzing for some decent historical battles

iam willing to donate some cash to a modder if they can help i also have a close friend who works as a voice backup (does voices for dubbed films etc) who i can get to do the voice heard before each battle scene

i also feel that the historical battles should be made almost impossible to win, that way we can come back here and boast if we have won

since playing the moors and successfully defending a crusade against my aqusition of toulouse (defeating 20+ fully stacked armys) ive developed a demonized way of defending a siege

so i plee that some historical battles should be involved in defending a siege at all the odds, that would put the creme on de cake

orlando bloom looked like an anerexic surfer boy(no offense), and was no inspiring leader in the film, the muslims looked and acted like robots

and as many have you said here the film just didnt cut it and could of been based on a more exciting period of the crusades

i.e king richard lion heart vs saladin

anyway back ontopic, what can we do to get some decent historical battles created? iam really serious about this because the current historical battles dont cut it and we need much more

i know as someone mentioned you cant be realistic as its not a historical simulater, but damn i know we can get some better battles going on here
