That's right, you read that correctly!
I've decided to join the Hellenistic cult of Isis, otherwise known as ISIS, because she's a fantastic ancient Egyptian goddess and if she was good enough for the ancient Greeks and Romans to worship as a foreign deity then she's good enough for my standards!
In fact, I plan on becoming one of her most blindly devout devotees if not an overly overzealous follower. Writers at Charlie Hebdo beware! I plan on sending them strongly worded hieroglyphic letters chiseled into ceramic ostraca if they offend my chief deity with blasphemous cartoon depictions instead of treating her like a true goddess. I will also deface the photographs of Charlie Hebdo cartoonists if they choose this immoral path, just as the Egyptians defaced statues of the apostate pharaoh Akhenaten in damnatio memoriae for being a monotheistic heretic worshiping a sun disc. What a ridiculous infidel!
The very hip and cool Cleopatra VII of Egypt, beloved today as an enduring symbol of Hellenistic Egypt, was one of her main followers, depicting herself as Isis in some artwork and as her Greek equivalent Aphrodite on some of her Ptolemaic Greek coinage. If you don't like Isis, that means you don't like Cleopatra either, you n00b.
