Hopefully there will be more of a point to play as the Gauls. In the current state, anybody with enough money trecking the area can make a celtic army out of mercs that will be about as good as a factional one, conventionally recruited.

iirc, this isnt only Gaulic situation - pretty much any faction can do the same and the issue was linked to the very diverse and plentiful mercenary pools. all you needed is money (and sometimes good timing before AI can snatch these units, which it does sometimes on H difficulties and above). perhaps capping the pools' refresh rate could solve this.

Precisely this, no faction has a unique/exclusive roster that only they can recruit. With the possible exception of the Romans, and with the ever-expanding Italic roster, that becomes less important anyway.

At least they should have access to their units that beat availability and cost by a good margin than going for the merc option. Not really Gaul's case. Boii can solve it via their colonies, but the Gauls don't. They're just Booi minus.

More seriously, I'm integrating even more new units at the moment. The Celtic roster rework is done, you'll be seeing a lot more of two revamped ones.
