A Missouri man has been indicted for allegedly threatening a Maricopa County, Ariz., election worker.
In a news release on Wednesday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said Walter Lee Hoornstra of Tecumseh, Mo., has been charged with communicating an interstate threat and making a threatening telephone call.


The department said that according to court documents, Hoornstra allegedly left a threatening voicemail message on the personal cellphone of the Maricopa County election worker in May 2021.
In the voicemail message to the election worker, Hoornstra allegedly said: “So I see you’re for fair and competent elections, that’s what it says here on your homepage for your recorder position you’re trying to fly here,” according to the DOJ.
“But you call things unhinged and insane lies when there’s a forensic audit going on. You need to check yourself. You need to do your [expletive] job right because other people from other states are watching your ass,” Hoornstra allegedly added, according to the department, “You [expletive] renege on this deal or give them any more troubles, your ass will never make it to your next little board meeting.”
In a statement, the DOJ’s Assistant Attorney General Kenneth A. Polite Jr. condemned Hoornstra’s alleged actions, adding that the department’s newly created Election Threats Task Force remains committed to prosecuting individuals who threaten election workers.

You think? I think it's entirely in character to try, and it will be hard for anyone such as DeSantis to replace him in the Republican primaries, where Trump currently leads DeSantis by 57% to 17%. Yes DeSantis may rise with better name recognition, but equally it's exceptional for a one-term-only President to enjoy this level of support for his return.

Whereas regardless of your perspective on Trump I can't imagine anything less in character for him than to agree to be anyone's VP now.

Don't get me wrong, I think he'd still have a solid chance at winning, now that Democrats no longer have mailed in votes gravy train.
Having said that he would be in his 80s most of his term, so maybe a less frontline position is a better fit for him. He could still be the grey cardinal of new GOP of sorts, but more key role should go to someone younger and DeSantis, who just curb-stomped Disney, is the best pick for that, IMO.

Luv DeSantis but conservatism is a meme nowadays. Queen Donnie would definitely undermine him if he does end up in the primary, because nobody puts baby in a corner. Whoever gets picked will simply be branded Hitler 3.0 and get stuck on the defensive against endless sham investigations into one alleged conspiracy or another. The American far left has spent decades taking over media, academia, and big business, while the right spent that time getting out of the way to prove how non-threatening they are. For anything like a level playing field to be restored, conservatives would have to fight fire with fire, instead of just trying to start their own cringe versions of leftist-dominated institutions and popular brands.

There’s no one on the right with the power and vision to accomplish that level of sustained, grassroots effort over several decades. All the right can do is win enough elections every cycle to slow the spread of the disease. When the position of the liberal establishment is always some unironic iteration of “CANCEL THE USA AND OFFER HER CORPSE AS REPARATIONS,” anything to the right of that is going to be considered “conservatism.” This only feeds the fundamental problem on the right of a lack of vision or a proactive platform from which to meaningfully fight and win, because all you have to do to stay afloat as a nominally conservative politician is say “how bout we just half cancel her? Look how reasonable I am. Please don’t raid my house.”

The result was a big victory for the U.S. Justice Department. A different jury just four months ago couldn’t reach unanimous decisions on Adam Fox or Barry Croft Jr. but acquitted two other men, a stunning conclusion that led to a second trial.
Their arrests nearly two years ago came at an extremely tense time: the volatile homestretch of the election between Joe Biden and then-President Donald Trump playing out against a backdrop of armed protests over COVID-19 restrictions, especially in Michigan.
Jury selection in the retrial of Fox and Croft coincidentally occurred a day after FBI agents searched Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate for documents, putting the agency in headlines at the same time that the judge was trying to detect any biases about law enforcement in the jury pool.

Far-right activist and congressional candidate Laura Loomer broke into tears as she claimed without evidence that she was illegally robbed of a Republican primary victory on Tuesday.
Incumbent Representative Daniel Webster won Tuesday's GOP primary for Florida's 11th Congressional District, according to the Associated Press. Although Webster won the race with 51 percent of the vote to Loomer's 44 percent with over 95 percent of ballots counted, Loomer refused to concede and instead suggested that the result was fraudulent.
Loomer previously won a Florida Republican primary race for Congress in 2020 but lost to her Democratic opponent, Representative Lois Frankel, by more than 16 points in the general election. She insisted that she was the true "winner" on Tuesday and argued that "big-tech election interference" could be to blame for the primary's outcome.

"I'm not conceding, because I'm a winner and the reality is our Republican Party is broken to its core," Loomer told supporters in a speech following her loss. "What we have done tonight has really honestly shocked the nation. We have further exposed the corruption within our own feckless, cowardly Republican Party."

Whether you will use the gun to harm those that come to harm you, or harm innocent people or simply they will be harmed by an accident... the main functionality of a gun is very different than that of an airplane or skyscrapper.

That said: Yeah, we don't need so tall skyscrappers. The Romans had the right idea when they put laws on how many floors those apartment buildings would be.

JEFFERSON CITY — California is moving closer to banning the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035, but Missouri and 16 other states are trying to block the maneuver.

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, who is running for U.S. Senate, is among a group of Republican attorneys general who filed a lawsuit in May seeking to overturn President Joe Biden’s decision to allow California to set its own vehicle emissions standards.

Schmitt said allowing California to issue its own rules could cost Missourians down the road.

“If California is able to set restrictive ‘gas emissions’ standards, manufacturing becomes astronomically expensive, and those additional costs are passed onto consumers, many of which are Missourians,” Schmitt said in announcing the lawsuit.


On Wednesday, a Schmitt spokesman said, “We will continue to fight California’s efforts to impose their radical policies on the rest of the country.”
