    I mean... SERIOUSLY?!
The Philippine–American War[10] or the Filipino–American War (modern Filipino: Digmaang Pilipino–Amerikano), previously referred to as the Philippine Insurrection or the Tagalog Insurgency by the United States,[11][12][13] was an armed conflict between the First Philippine Republic and the United States that lasted from February 4, 1899, to July 2, 1902.[14] While Filipino nationalists viewed the conflict as a continuation of the struggle for independence that began in 1896 with the Philippine Revolution against Spain, the U.S. government regarded it as an insurrection.[15] The conflict arose when the First Philippine Republic objected to the terms of the Treaty of Paris under which the United States took possession of the Philippines from Spain, ending the Spanish–American War.[16]

Fighting erupted between forces of the United States and those of the Philippine Republic on February 4, 1899, in what became known as the 1899 Battle of Manila. On June 2, 1899, the First Philippine Republic officially declared war against the United States.[17][18] The Philippine President Emilio Aguinaldo was captured on March 23, 1901, and the war was officially declared ended by the American government on July 2, 1902, with a victory for the United States. However, some Philippine groups—some led by veterans of the Katipunan, a Philippine revolutionary society which had launched the revolution against Spain—continued to battle the American forces for several more years. Among those leaders was Macario Sakay, a veteran Katipunan member who established (or re-established) the Tagalog Republic in 1902 along Katipunan lines in contrast to Aguinaldo's Republic, with himself as president. Other groups, including the Muslim Moro peoples of the southern Philippines and quasi-Catholic Pulahan religious movements, continued hostilities in remote areas. The resistance in the Moro-dominated provinces in the south, called the Moro Rebellion by the Americans, ended with their final defeat at the Battle of Bud Bagsak on June 15, 1913.[19]

The war resulted in at least 200,000 Filipino civilian deaths, mostly due to famine and disease.[20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27] Some estimates for total civilian dead reach up to a million.[28][7] Atrocities and war crimes were committed during the conflict,[29] including torture, mutilation, and executions by both sides. The guerrilla warfare tactics employed by the Filipinos propelled the U.S. to forcibly move many civilians to concentration camps, where thousands died, and launch reprisal and scorched earth campaigns.[30][31][32][33][34] The war and subsequent occupation by the U.S. changed the culture of the islands, leading to the rise of Protestantism and disestablishment of the Catholic Church and the introduction of English to the islands as the primary language of government, education, business, and industry.

Just because the Republicans today are further right than the also far right Democrats doesn't mean this was always so. The Democrats have for the longest time in their existence been the party of the southern racists. Furthermore the division between isolationists and interventionists wasn't along party lines. FDR was a democrat, but so was Henry Ford.

This of course was before everyone ignored Eisenhower's warnings regarding the military industrial complex and pretty much everyone important in both parties switched to the cleptocratic "policeman of the world" attitude so that certain companies would fund them - both before and after retirement.

Racism has always been more of a Democrat, then GOP things. Democrats calling GOP "racist" for wanting to maintain secured borders doesn't make GOP, in fact, racist. The closest thing to racism in GOP is their weird obsession's over Iran, I would say. But that's not what racist Democrat party is concerned with.

History also teaches that anti-Semitism in America saw an increased change in virulence when increased immigration from Europe brought millions of Jews to the U.S.

History teaches that the US had become a colonial power by replacing Spain as the colonial power in the Philippines. More:have you ever heard about the first Philippine Republic’s struggle to gain independence following annexation by the United States? out of curiosity, it was the first wartime torture by Americans.

The Filipino Genocide - Scholar Commons

The effects of American opinions of Filipinos were not limited to caricatures in cartoons, but also had serious implications for the real world. Being depicted as animals, children, or even devils, was unfortunately reflected in American action against Filipinos. In the poem “The White Man’s Burden: The United States and the Philippines” written in 1899, Filipinos are referred to as “captives” and described with statements including things like “new-caught...half devil and half child.

From the beginning of the war some American military leaders estimated that “It may be necessary to kill half of the Filipinos” so that the rest could live in a more civilized society.16 This is demonstrated by General Smith, who after an attack on American troops, responded with a terror campaign of killing and burning, without the option of taking prisoners. He noted that anyone over the age of ten was “fair game”.

The New York Evening Journal comments on General Smith’s words with a cartoon “Kill Everyone Over Ten” displaying a firing squad about to execute a group of young Filipino boys.

The cartoon above was published in the New York Journal on 5 May 1902. It depicted the massacre of the people of Balañguiga, Sámar Oriental (Eastern Sámar).

The comments imply that because children over ten years old did not grow up in a society with American influence, they would be unable to adapt to American culture. If the Filipinos were unable to become a part of an American based society, they would be exterminated.

American empire building coupled with widespread racism and the excuse of total war which permitted the use of extreme measures such as relocation, concentration camps, and torture set the conditions for and inevitably resulted in the genocide of the people residing on the Philippine Islands, regardless of tribe.

Life Magazine highlights early on the destruction wreaked by 1900 saying that the Americans “burnt villages, destroyed considerable property and incidentally slaughtered a few thousand of their sons and brothers, husbands, and fathers.” Not only were these atrocities committed by soldiers, but the American people were aware of this and permitted it to continue for another two years. The severity of the situation is best displayed in the cartoon “The Harvest in the Philippines,” which depicts a belligerent Uncle Sam standing in front of a cannon, equipped with a bolo, pistol, and rifle. In the background lie rows and rows of dead Filipinos, stretching for as far as the eye can see...The use of modern techniques, the high proportion of Filipino deaths, and the intent of the United States to erase the pre-Americanized population can only be described with one word: genocide.

History also teaches us that anti-Semitism in the US never evolved to anything resembling the Holocaust. On the contrary, 125,000 Jewish Germans found sanctuary in the US during the Hitler years. The War Refugee Board set up in 1944 provided additional assistance to victims of the NSDAP. We also know that the US restored democracy to Europe and hastened the end of the Holocaust with its military victory.

The right to bear arms is fundamental; the lawful exercise therefore (practiced by tens of millions of Americans, including Muslims, socialists, African Americans etc.) has nothing to do with terrorism. The racial resentment/prejudice here is both predictable and unmistakable (white Americans exercising their 2A rights are adjacent to the Taliban).

Stop worshiping the 2nd Amendment. It's hardly the only fundamental right in this country. Just because you like it the most doesn't mean it's more important than the others and a golden calf.

The DoI is a nice document, historically. But it means precisely two things when figuring out the fundamental legal rights in the United States. Jack and . That was the thirteen colonies giving the King the finger. Stick with the legal documents.

In a long tradition of “persecuting the refugee,” the State Department and FDR claimed that Jewish immigrants could threaten national security.
Until the very end of 1944—by which time photographs and newspaper reports had demonstrated that the Nazis were carrying out mass murder—Attorney General Francis Biddle warned Roosevelt not to grant immigrant status to refugees.

1939: 27,370 Germans received visas. 240,748 were in the waiting list.
After the war began in september 1939, It became more difficult for people to emigrate from Europe.
1940:27,355 Germans received visas. 15 visas went unissued. 301,935 Germans were in the waiting list.
1941:The state Department implemented new restrictions designed both to protect the nation’s security and further limit immigration. Only German refugees who had already escaped Nazi territory could obtain US immigration visas.Immigration became almost impossible, and the State Department canceled the waiting list. The United States entered World War II in December 1941.
16,994 Germans received visas. 10,376 visas went unissued. There was no waiting list.

1943-1945. Approximately 125,000 Germans, most of them Jewish, immigrated to the United States between 1933 and 1945. Many more people could have reached the United States had the State Department filled the German quota beginning in 1933, or had Congress changed immigration laws to address the refugee crisis.

The American colonization of Philippines, revisited. Most Americans still refuse to acknowledge that the subjugation of the Philippines was comparable to the imperialistic exploits of European colonial powers. (*). In just five years, the War of Philippine Independence killed something on the order of three-quarters of a million Phillipinos. And perhaps 1,000,000 when we include famine. (read below)

    - “The mission of the United States is one of benevolent assimilation

The people of the Unites States want us to kill all the men, all the women, and raise up a new race in these islands”

(*) Prof. Catherine Ceniza Choy,Berkeley University, “Imperialism in the Philippines
    Key excerpts,

One way the United States might be exceptional or distinct from European imperialism is that it is not as brutal – or so has it been celebrated.

After the Spanish-American war, the Filipinos causing problems were called “rebels,” and one reason why people today do not hear much about the Philippine-American War is that it is remembered as an “insurrection” rather than as a “war.”

Even in the Library of Congress’ entry, it is called an insurrection rather than a war. It serves imperialism to portray the war as a smaller kind of insurrection, supported by rebels, rather than something that was sustained by the Philippine people.

Mark Twain wrote the War Prayer around 1905 to express his outrage over United States actions in the US-Philippine War. The War Prayer was found among Twain’s unpublished writings in 1910. He had sent it to Harper’s Bazaar but they had considered it too radical. (*)

Kipling’s “The White Man’s Burden” was published in McClure’s in 1899, urging Europe and the United States to take up the White Man’s Burden to colonize places and people like the Philippines and Filipinos

The African American activist Bruce Grit wrote in 1899 that the white man’s burden had been shared by the black man.

Also faded from popular consciousness is the Philippine-American War.

Often, Japanese imperialism and British imperialism are regarded as particularly violent; however, the Philippine-American War ended 100,000 Filipino lives, and perhaps 1,000,000 when we include famine.

The United States military retaliated by making Sumar into a “howling wilderness” after antiimperialist Filipinos attacked US troops. The “water cure” was enacted on resistant Filipinos. A half-hour film entitled Savage Acts chronicles this.

A history of race and racism in the United States lent a certain legitimacy to U.S. colonial violence in the Philippines. There is a relation between the white treatment of African Americans and United States’ treatment of Filipinos and Filipinas.

Since the idea of willingness of the annexed was not taken into consideration at that time why should it be taken now, especially (it was argued) since the Filipinos, like the Native Americans and Negroes, are childish?( Theodore Roosvelt)

An 1899 cartoon shows a Native American telling a Philippine native over wireless Marconi telegraphy, “Be good, or you will be dead.” In the background is a sign reading “Hawaii.” The Philippines’ inhabitants are depicted as somewhat African American, somewhat Native American.

The journal The Judge shows the “white man’s burden”: Figures representing England and the United States carry their respected colonized peoples. Uncle Sam is carrying a Filipino. The character representing England is carries Chinese, Indian, and Pakistani people.

This rant sounds somewhat irrational, if I may. What is so disturbing about firearms? Firearms are just tools and can be used for good: hunting, self-defense, etc.
America doesn't really have a gun problem anyways, as most of American gun crimes are just organized crime stuff that occurs in nations where civilians cant own firearms anyways.
It appears most anti-gun narratives are based on nothing but emotional propaganda, as elites don't like the idea of those pesky citizens being able to defend themselves and remain some degree of autonomy from the government, so they peddle silly anti-gun propaganda to confused liberal Karens.

Unfortunately I've know people like this. They brandish their guns at the slightest provocation to feel tough. They're cowards, but will pick a fight or escalate an argument if they think they can't lose. A gun lets them be the aggressor they wish they could be and intimidate people they're otherwise scared of.
