    Icon7 Recording a Trier Campaign

Started a new campaign in this beautiful mod with the Electorate of Trier, i've attempted a little before to get the hang of pike and shot, but didn't get too far.
I intend to upload the beginning, then only the biggest battles or important moves.

Thanks, I've stopped for a while since I've been busy modding the audio of the game, also I strugged a lot with the recording settings, now I can record mostly without lag or distortions. I'll probably resume it soon.

Ikr. It's just that I don't have good enough thumbnails, I'm not yet that dedicated, but thanks Gigantus, you're so helpful, got to appreciate that.

Now I'm at turn 138 and after the army reforms (The script about Gustavus Adolphus), I had suddenly lost all free upkeep in all cities, and I can't find any way to replace previous troops with the new versions... I survived, but now I'm fighting AI armies of pre-reform troops with an army full of the newer ones, feels a bit weird, am I missing something?

That could have been an oversight, eg not assigning some of the new units the free upkeep attribute: the upkeep bonus\setting in the EDB file has no condition attached to it which might have switched off the free upkeep.
Which means the old units should still have that free upkeep. I do however have that notion that free upkeep requires that you are able to recruit that unit in the city or castle where it is stationed. And if the recruitment of old unit is disabled now then the free upkeep is also disabled.

An unintended challenge indeed. Adding the 'free_upkeep_unit' to some suitable units of the new roster should be save game compatible. But make a backup of the EDU anyhow before you attempt that.

No, the new units do have free upkeep, I meant recruitment of the old ones is disabled, like you said, but that way I still had to wait 3-4 turns to recruit, in which the army upkeep skyrocketed, as now all garrisons had to be maintained, so I had to disband, but at 3 turns replenishment for a pike unit, implied that I was not getting a considerable force until 15 turns or so. It's not insurmountable, but still a challenge, and depending on the campaign, imo. Could be disastrous if the player is in a bad spot. That and of course the fact the AI doesn't seem to replace the troops unless you go killing all the old stacks etc. Which feels unbalanced as your newer troops have like double the stats of the old ones.

Not complaining personally though, after this campaign I think the mod would remain a classic until we get an official pike and shot game. just wish that if there was a way to make a unit progression system for this kind of reforms (like for, say, SS, also, can't rememberif in EB2 you had to replace old troops manually?) it would be included here too.

Oh, but something good, the models for the new units are beautiful!

Holy crap, I remember that this mod was released in early 2013...

I played as Wurttemberg and then I got the bug at turn 116 or so.

Thanks to the ad made for it by...uh...Geoffrey? - the one called Kartatsche or something - I found the excellent instrumental version of Robbie Williams' "Bodies".

Man, where does the time go?

How are you doing, Gigantus? Your posts finally take up my whole screen, and I have a big screen.
