    TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP


    This is the third edition of the TWC hotseat tag team tournament!

    The previous ones were a huge accomplishment, binding all sections together, and this year we shall expand it to all other communities as well

    ALL HOTSEATERS FROM ALL COMMUNITIES CAN PARTICIPATE!


    The best 2-players’ teams shall clash for HOTSEAT SUPREMACY!

    The winners will receive +30 rep, 2 points towards gaming competition sword medal (1 for all finalists, 1 for the winners of the finals), a signature, a special discord rank in Hotseating Hub and a personal avatar!


    HOW DOES IT WORK?

    In TAG tournament there will be teams of two people, and each match will be 2vs2vs2.

    There will likely be 3 rounds, quarter finals, semi finals and finals. And only the winner team goes to the next round. But that may slightly change depending on how many registrations we receive.

    Matches in the first round will be maximally
    15 turns each

    Unless the winner team will be obvious by that time,
    the winner will be determined by settlements captured and battles won.

    In each round different mods will be used, mostly using less familiar mods, to increase the challenge. The mod will not be revealed till shortly before the beginning of a round.

    The first round (likely quarter finals) will be hosted in Hotseating Hub, a discord server partnered with TWC Hotseats.

    You can register in discord registration channel in Hotseating Hub. You can find it under category "TWC TAG TOURNAMENT"

    The Registration period will last at least two weeks.

    Criteria for participation:
    Players may only participate in one tag team
    All hotseaters from all communities can register.
    Players may not be admins or organizers
    Players should be able to play a fast paced hotseat, 24h time limit per player, 48h per team.

    Tournament Rules:
    NO BENDING/ALLIANCES with other teams and no diplomacy at all.
    All teams must fight properly till the end, despite their defeat possibly being unavoidable, until the winner team is declared, either by both loosing teams admitting defeat, or by admins declaring a winner after the turns limit.
    Passwords in the team must be shared with your teammate. No admin subbing, if one of the players cant play his turn, his teammate shall sub him. The factions played by the team will not be assigned to players by admins, it will be up to players within the team to decide who plays which factions. The players are of course meant to plan and play for both factions together.
    Youtubers (unless yourstotalwarmaster) are not allowed to publish their videos from a round, until all matches in the round are finished.
    Breaking the rules may result into your removal form future Gaming Staff/Hotseating Hub tournaments.

    Hotseat Rules:
    Each match will have have a slightly different rules, depending on the mod. All hotseats will be autoresolved.
    However, most of general rules will be present in all of them, and all known exploits and bugs will be forbidden.

    Welcome to the first round, the QUARTER FINALS of the TAG Tournament!

    We shall use King of Rivers and Hills (KORAH) submod of Westeros: Total War

    - Its standalone, simply extract into your mods and play

    This mod used to be one of the most favourite hotseat submods in the era, when Westeros hotseating had been at its peak for several years. KORAH has been made for hotseats by former Gaming Staff Leader Dux, hence it is very well balanced for the hotseats...

    Quarter final rules
    General:
    - The hotseat will last 15 turns, unless the winner is clear sooner.
    - All teams must fight properly till the end, despite their defeat possibly being unavoidable, until the winner team is declared, either by both loosing teams admitting defeat, or by admins declaring a winner after the turns limit (Victors would be decided by a vote amongst the organizers based on how each faction managed in general).
    - NO BENDING/ALLIANCES with other teams and no diplomacy at all.
    - PASSWORDS IN THE TEAM MUST BE SHARED with your teammate. No admin subbing, if one of the players cant play his turn, his teammate shall sub him. The factions played by the team will not be assigned to players by admins, it will be up to players within the team to decide who plays which factions. The players are of course meant to plan and play for both factions together.
    - PM the next whole team that it is their turn. You have 24 hours to play each turn, 48 hours per team.
    - THE NORTH, DRAGONSTONE, DRIFTMARK AND IRON ISLANDS ARE OUT OF BOUNDS. Nobody may enter these regions during the entirety of the Hotseat.
    - 2 strike rule when it comes to a team being late. If your late 2 times with no warning, word or reason then you'll be kicked.Bugs and Exploits:
    - No exploits/bugs allowed: Posting defeats, making walls of units on map to disallow enemy agents to move and stomping/killing agents with units, surrounding armies/navies to deny retreat, intentionally spreading a plague with agents/units, stepping on a merchant to remove him from a trade resource, exploiting AI factions ( for example demanding/accepting money or settlements from AI factions), and more.

    Military rules:
    - You cannot attack enemy lands of opponent teams, if they have not played their first turn yet. You can however cross lands of theirs during the 1st turn, if your army doesnt stand in enemy territory after it has finished movement). You can enter your ally's lands on turn 1. It means for example, that during the 1st turn, Gardener cannot attack Lannister, but Lannister can attack Gardener.
    - All battles are auto-resolved. Screenshots must be posted with: odds and result screens, mouse over the odds bar to show the ratio, the armies involved with their banners visible on the campaign map, unit card of siege unit must be visible if used to directly assault settlement.
    - Armies that are defeated in battle by a player that comes after them in the turn list may not move the following turn. This is to make it fair for people who are defeated by players that come before them in the turn list. Armies standing in a settlement when defeated are excluded from this rule.
    - 2 forts per region per team, and forts need to have a garrison of at least 5 units, to limit fort spamming a bit.
    - Ships cannot leave blockaded ports. It's not allowed to keep units protected by placing them in ships docked in a port.
    - It is allowed to block ports via ground troops. At least 2 units per ship required.
    -Not allowed to besiege a settlement to deny its garrison participation in battle.
    - You are not allowed to besiege a settlement to deny enemy retreat into it.
    - You are not allowed to build watchtowers.
    - Heroic victories are 100% banned and illegal. If you get a heroic victory repeatedly, contact an Admin and we may allow it.
    - Bribed units/agents cant move for one turn. As bribed generals are also counted generals stolen by princesses.
    - NO SIEGE ENGINES ALLOWED (ballistas, catapults and so on)

    Agent rules:
    - Princess must have over 30% odds of success in order to steal a general. Pictures must be posted as proof of these odds.
    - Merchants need 60% to acquire other merchant's assets. Only allowed in your own regions, Rebel Controlled Regions, or regions you have aquired Trade rights to. Screenshots required
    - It is not allowed to put agents that cant be bribed into forts (princesses, priests,...)

    Settlement rules:
    - Destruction of buildings is allowed, starting at TURN 10 (before turn 10, you are not allowed to destroy any building). In order to Destroy any buildings you must have held control of the settlement for at least 3 turns. You may not destroy a building if the settlement is under siege or if an enemy army of a similar size to your defending forces is within 1 turn range
    - Settlements gifted to your teammate should disband all units save one. No gifting regions in a war zone (bordering faction at war with, or under threat). Only allowed once per 5 turns.

    - Economy of each team should be now similar, around 33k in total
    - Each faction has one general with movement bonus
    - Added a half stack in Storm's End (plus boost to the prince) and a little bit more to The Vale (to the prince and Runestone) Ports changes:
    -The West: Lannisport port downgraded to 2nd tier, Crakehall port destroyed (can be rebuilt ofc), Arbor port downgraded to 1st tier (Oldtown stay the 4th tier
    - Thats all due to balance the fact, that Lannisters have twice as many ports than Gardener, and also that Crakehall port wold give the lannisters fleet at war zone way sooner than to the Gardeners
    - The East- Yronwood still has the 3rd tier in Sunspear against The Stormlands 2 2nd tiers (Storm's End and Duskendale). Done this way as Stormkings has twice as many ports (+ possibly Arynn ports). Arynn still has 2nd tier in Gulltown. Mudd now has 2nd tier in Saltpans
    (original changes included - Hoare lands in The Reach to The Gardeners, disbanding fleets, changing kings purses, port edits...)

    Semi finals start in two weeks!

    After the bloody quarter finals, the next challenge awaits each team! The Difficulty increases significantly, as in this round there will be many new elements of hotseating that you will need to dominate to win, such as expanded siege and agents rules, underdeveloped starting settlements and expansions against AI.


    We will be using Ancient Conquest mod. You can download the mod from its mod page https://www.twcenter.net/forums/show...0-Full-Release

    The Semi finals and finals will be hosted here in TWC.

    TEAMS
    Team I: Syracuse and Thracs
    Team II: Satrapy of Lydia and Cilicia
    Team III: Sparta and Egypt

    Which team plays which factions will be revealed after the 2 weeks period of testing. And in the same time the matches will be begin!

    Testing will last for two weeks, and the semi finals will start right afterwards. Factions will be assigned to players after testing.

    Rules (for semifinals)

    General:

    - 2 strike rule when it comes to a team being late. If your late 2 times with no warning, word or reason then you'll be kicked.
    - The Western corner of the map is out bounds, as well as Persepolis (see the map preview). Nobody may enter these regions during the entirety of the Hotseat.
    - Not allowed to call invasions.

    Bugs and Exploits:
    - No exploits/bugs allowed: Posting defeats, making walls of units on map to disallow enemy agents to move and stomping/killing agents with units, surrounding armies/navies to deny retreat, intentionally spreading a plague with agents/units, stepping on a merchant to remove him from a trade resource, exploiting AI factions ( for example demanding/accepting money or settlements from AI factions), and more.
    - Not allowed to give money to your other faction if you are bankrupted.

    - No ransoming allowed
    - You are not allowed to lure an ambushing army a tile closer, for example to bring it in range of more of your forces.
    - Siege engines are allowed
    - Each unit of siege equipment can be used just once in each turn to take settlement.
    - Ballistas can assault wooden walls and forts,
    - catapults can also assault basic stone walls (but not large/huge stone walls)


    Agent rules:
    - Spies are not allowed to open Gates on players, unless there is at least 60% (for large/huge settlement its 80%) chance of entering into the settlement. If a spy was has been in city for several turns, you will have to leave the settlement and enter it again. If inside the settlement is at least 1200 soldiers (720 for large/huge settlements), than spies may not open the gates anyway. Screenshots must be provided
    - Assassins cannot sabotage and are not allowed to kill family members or generals. Assassins need at least 60% chance to kill other agents, for enemy assassins/spies just 30% is required. Screenshots must be provided
    - Princess must have over 30% odds of success in order to steal a general. Pictures must be posted as proof of these odds. However, if the stealing of a general leads to a bug, such as that a besieging enemy army lifts the siege, then it would not be allowed.
    - Merchants need 60% to acquire other merchant's assets. Only allowed in your own regions, Rebel Controlled Regions, or regions you have aquired Trade rights to. Screenshots required
    - It is not allowed to put agents that cant be bribed into forts (princesses, priests,...)

    Settlement rules:
    - Destruction of buildings is not allowed. Only exceptions are churches of foreign religions. They can be destroyed immediately after taking a settlement
    - Settlements gifted to your teammate should disband all units save one. No gifting regions in a war zone (bordering faction at war with, or under threat). Only allowed once per 5 turns.

    Thanks to everyone involved for creating this semi-final as well

    I checked out the mod and the proposed map. I have to say that it looks really cool! I'm excited to play this match.

    I have not thoroughly tested AR, which is another job to do, but there are a few points I would like to make.

    - The map seems pretty big. There are a lot of elements which might require a longer timetable than 20 turns. I would propose maybe ~25 turns? Let's not stretch this semi-final out too long, but those 5 turns can make a big difference.
    - I think I would feel confident playing almost all of the factions. However, Thrace concerns me the most. All factions have several cities which can recruit higher tier units, and so does Thrace. But the positioning of 2 strong Thracian cities is such that it takes about 4-5 turns to reach either the eastern port/coast or the southern AI cities/southern coast. I feel that Thrace is a bit stuck on a terrible infrastructure spot behind the mountains.
    I'm not sure if you guys also feel the same, and I'm not sure how to solve it. Maybe improve the whole infrastructure on all those cities there, or upgrade the south-eastern settlement? But then, I also don't want to overpower it too much as compared to Lydia. Because Lydia also doesn't have all cities close, but at least it has several large cities close to the coast which allows for easy reinforcements across the empire.

    Allright, AR reporting. Can't say I've done a lot of testing, but since Thrace has been a point of interest in my balancing issues, I tested some Thrace vs Lydia. Thrace has a bit of an advantage over Lydia in terms of units. So to buff Thrace is also a difficult choice..
    I still feel that Thrace is quite isolated, and can't be much of a threat to Sparta either. Sparta has a lot of AI settlements close to capture and it has a very strong unit roster. One can say it is in the middle of everything, but if it is not (immediately) threatened by the outer factions, it actually becomes an advantage to strike in any direction you want

    So conclusion... I'm not really sure what is the best way to balance things, if it is unbalanced at all.. (Thanks for nothing then. - Np, you're welcome )

    Thanks for the info!

    Yes, I actually intended to make it 25 turns... so that will prob happen... the final duration will be there when the round begins.

    Well, this round more than the first one is more meant to be 3 couples of 1vs1.

    Well, I have been trying to keep in check coastal level of cities... as a larger city allows better ports of course, which would matter a lot in the balance. So I didnt want to move Thrace large city to the coast, as it would allow them better port, hence I would have to do the same for Lydia, an that isnt what I want to do, so all the fations are not the same (Sparta and Syracuse and Cilicia already has it), and mainly smaller ports will make it less possible for Lydia/Thracia to interfere with Sparta/Syracuse. I think if I move Thracs large city to the Stara Zagora, it might improve this enough?

    Thracse is intentionally isolated (i even increased rebel garissons south of them, as well as rebel settlements west of Lydia), as allowing them to encounter Sparta with significant amount of troops woldnt do good do any good I think.

    Syracuse vs Sparta is pretty good I think... Sparta has somewhat a defensive advantage, if they manage to seize all the cities quickly, but Syracuse is not doing bad either, fi they control the sea. On other hand Sparta's advantage may turn into a disadvantage, as all their forces could be kept locked in one place by Syracuse, or if they also have to defend against Lydia...

    Regarding units, yea, Thracs seems to have elements of Sparta/Syracuse roster, so they are slightly better. I think moving the capital to Stara Zagora is fine. Lydia has some other advatantages, such as possibly being able to get some more ports/setts in long run, Cilicia possibly helping them out with military slightly

    Yea, its kinda hard to see how are things going to turn out right now, will depend a lot on specific choices by players .7

    Im more concerned about Cilicis vs Egypt, as I originally sorted the port balance by giving Egypt to stone cities at the coast, as Cilicia's capital is at the coast (so its large city), but will need to propercly check if it works out or not... As Cilicia might be able to get slightly more ports tha Egypt. Perhaps I should move Cilician capital to Allepo or Comana? (and thus, also downgrading one of the egpytian ports)

    Afraid I have been juggling school assignments on top of normal issues, I just submitted today. I would like until Friday or Saturday to do some testing if that's possible.

    I was able to take a quick look today, and it should be an interesting match! One thing I did notice was that the Sparta/Egypt might have the most trouble because the other factions could most easily work together against them. For example, if Syracuse and Thrace were to work together against any other faction, it would be against Sparta, since Syracuse has to walk through Sparta to fight anyone else. Similarly, if Lydia and Cilcia wanted to try and work together, it would be easiest to do it against Egypt. Not sure if this would actually happen, but that team might be able to handle it since they have the easiest access to rich AI/rebel settlements in greece and the southeast corner of the map. Also, Thrace seems to have a strong AR roster at the start due to its abundance of AP units, but I think that is balanced by the fact that their position starts fairly isolated so they can't easily be used to rush an enemy human faction. Overall, I'not sure we need to change anything, I guess we'll see how it all turns out, should be interesting!

    Yes, it seems it strongly depends on decisions, are there are plenty availible. I suppose I will just do some slighter things, such as the ones I suggested above.

    I think I will downgrade some settlements around Sparta, so its not so easy to defend the peninsula.

    Otherwise position of starting armies and ships are good? (I will move Thrace to Stara Zagora, as I said)

    I wouldn't mind keeping some of the settlements near Sparta at least a a decently upgraded level, since I think Sparta is the faction most susceptible to being gang banged in this, since they are stuck in the middle of the map and will have to fight pretty much all of Syracuse's power plus whatever Lydia and Thrace decide to send, though maybe downgrade a bit if you want. Everything else seemed pretty good

    Alright, the testing period is finished, we start now! I updated the HS patch, so you will have to redownload it.

    Some more less minor things were changed, as there didnt seems to be any signifiant issues, mostly what we talked about: moved Thracs capital to Stara Zagora, as well as moved their main army slighty further east. Downgraded Thebes. Moved egyptian capital to Pelasium, so that can have the same tier of port as Cilicia. Nerfed ports availiblity and ships replenishments (thats why you need to redownload), as for example Spart wasnt allowed to build the 3rd tier port in Sparta. Each faction starts with the same tier of starting navy. Moved lydian spy and and some even more minor things that I probably forgot by now.


    Neverthless, time to reval who was determined winners in QF 2 and 4. (as who was first and second depends for who are you gonna fight in this round)

    QF 2:
    1st place - Coke Penguins: Dionysos and Ariadne + Danius_98
    2nd place - Forth Eorlings: joerock_22 + Chieftain Khuzaymah

    QF 4:
    1st place - jimmy total war: jimmy_dude + Epic Total War
    2nd place - realpolitik: Mergor + Francisco22


    And now lets assign teams in the semi finals:
    (As was explained before, QF 1 winner fights WF 2 winner plus the second team from QF 3/4 and vice versa. Which team plays what set of factions in each match of this round is randomized)

    Match I: LINK
    Team I (Syracuse and Thracs): Coke Penguins
    Team II (Lydia and Cilicia): realpolitik
    Team III (Sparta and Egypt): NoNameNeeded

    Match II: LINK
    Team I (Syracuse and Thracs): jimmy total war
    Team II (Lydia and Cilicia): Tits and Wine
    Team III (Sparta and Egypt): Forth Eorlings

    Going to set up the threads and starting saves in a few mins
