Default Mod doesn't start up properly.

I'm not sure if this involves 2.1 individually or if it is a problem with the mod altogether, but i've recently reinstalled medieval 2, albeit this time to a custom directory, applied the 1.1 patch and downloaded and installed LtC 2.1

When I run the shortcut on the desktop that's supplied with the mod, the game starts up fine, but I noticed the usual LtC splash screen wasn't there. And when I finally get to the campaign map, I noticed the mod doesn't seem to be active. Years are not shown in the hourglass area as they were in 2.0.

I'm thinking this could possibly be due to the alternate path I used to install M2 itself. Perhaps something path-wise hardcoded into the mod? I'm not sure. Either way, if anyone knows how to correct this issue, please let me know.

As for Lusted, excellent work man. This is the only mod I'm currently enjoying for M2. I can't wait to see what comes of the modding community a year or two down the road.

Make sure you redirect the installer to the correct path of whatever you have named your M2Tw folder.

I did. I have my copy of Medieval 2 installed to a ../games/medieval 2/ folder.

inside that folder are two folders, one being Medieval 2 Total War (the vanilla game) and Lands to Conquer (a copy of the vanilla game plus your mod). But just to make sure, when your mod is installed, where should the "lands to conquer" folder be (the one that has the data folder inside it)?

By the way, thanks for the super quick response. Rep points for you.

    C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War.
In your case:C:\Games\SEGA\Medieval II Total War
Landstoconquer file must be in same place as data file.
Delete copy of vanilla and install LtC in whatever path is for your vanilla . LtC don't change anything in vanlla (you can play vanilla if you choose )

that's not how i had 2.0 installed. i installed 2.0 in the manner i explained earlier and it worked fine. i've uninstalled LtC and Medieval 2, cleaned up my registry and reinstalled Medieval to its default folder setting and installed LtC to a copy of that folder, just like i did with 2.0 when it worked fine. but i'm still having the same problem. LtC just doesn't seem to activate itself at all. no splash screens. no year turns. no nothing. it's just like playing vanilla M2.

Well...that was just the damndest thing.

I installed with the procedure described in my posts above and the mod would not activate. I reinstalled M2 and the mod, still nothing. Rebooted my computer and ran the mod again, everything works perfectly now.

    I'm stumped.

Rebooting your rig after installing seems to correct alot of peoples problems for some reason. Maybe Lusted should recommend rebooting after installing in his read me?

I noticed that in the landstoconquer.cfg file, it only contains the line "mod = landstoconquer[video]", and doesn't point at all to the landtoconquer folder that contains the "data" folder.

Try copying the "data" folder from "C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\landstoconquer" to "C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\landstoconquer[video]"

That means the mod hasn't installed properly. That part should read:

    [features]
    mod = landstoconquer
