    Default sluggish

Everytime I run SPQR in campaign mod after so many minutes ingame the game turns real sluggish and slow. I know its not my computer since I have just bought a brand new gaming laptop. I have tried uninstalling SPQR reinstalling it. I tried reupdating the 1.3 and 1.5 patches to make sure the game works. But still no avail.... I havent tried doing a complete uninstallation of RTW. But it looks like I will have to do that once I finish watching Saw III. So any ideas on what the problem might be before I do a complete uninstall??

Where is the game sluggish? On the campaign map or in battle? What settings are you using? And do you have anti-aliasing on? What are your computer specs? I need more details in order to help you.

The game turns sluggish on the campaign map and during the battles even before and after the battles it continues. Although it stops being sluggish once I exit my current campaign and go back to the main menu. On the setting I hit auto-detect. The only thing I changed manually was I removed the shadows and I changed the anti-aliasing from low to high. I changed these a few time to see if it might be the problem.

I cant tell what's causing it. Unless your problem is the mouse being sluggish when you move it around. I had that for a long time, but then it suddenly started working fine... and I cant figure out why.

That used to happen to me too in the past but only when I had the rome process running in 'HIGH' or 'REALTIME' priority... Agorix, u haven't changed that, have u?

Ok... it could be several things but I'd recommend u doing two things before re-installing.

1- Set ur resolution to 1024X700 in both battle/campaign video options. Set AA to low. Disable battle map/campaign shadows (they are available anyway). Play test it...

2- If option 1 didn't work u may have a problem with dual core processing... go to 'windows task bar -> Applications -> romeTW.exe' right click and select 'Go To Process'. Right click the process and select 'Set Affinity' -> Unselect one of the processors and click ok. Go back to the game and play test it.

    Hope it helps ;-)

I agree with jegui, the anti-aliasing needs to be low as possible, smoke and dust need to be off. Just try a campaign on normal settings to see if it is any faster. You system requirements are more than enough to run the game. You may have a bad savegame or corrupt download.

My system is not nearly as good as yours (X800, 2g RAM,, AMD64 3500) and I can run SPQR with everything on high except for AA (which is off) and it only drops to like 14 fps with 9k men onscreen, so dont worry about adjusting specs, its def something else. If it happens again, alt tab out to windows and make sure that there is no scheduled process running (Norton takes it upon itself to run a virus check when it wants to these days, screwing gameplay until I realised and turned it off). If it's not that then it was prob a corrupt save (strange way to manifest itself imo though).
