Thread: [PREVIEW] New and Overhauled Units

    Those Galatian Thorakitai are fearsome, both visually and performance wise. In my Diadochoi campaigns, I like to add some regional flavor in my armies aside from the 1st (Royal) and 2nd (Royal Successor) ones. Currently playing as the Antigonids and I have two Galatian units in my Asia Minor army, they regularly get kill numbers on par with those of my rout-chaser cavalry. I have now added 2 each to my royal armies, which are preparing to invade Italy against Imperial Rome. This will be fun.

    Also, KAM, you mentioned tinkering with the Thorax spears; will we see an overhaul in this beta, or is this something further away in the future?

    Always happy to see new units for the factions forgotten by some of the usual players, new unit for Roxolani and especially for Nabatea looks great! Too bad about there not being evidence for Saba's use of them, hopefully some info about other stuff for Saba is found. Spartan stuff also looks super interesting mechanically, the Trophimoi having a long recruit time isn't something most units do to my knowledge. Is it possible to set unit replenishment rate individually? So that units like these, as well as elephants, replenish slower than other units?

    I got sent a book passage that mentioned their camels existing. I see that Saba already has 2 camel units though.

    This will be added in next patch. I had some issues with animations so I had to take a bit different direction but main goal will be the same.

    I use Orbis Terrarum and my custom Reshade presets

    https://www.mediafire.com/file/afe5c...0/kam.ini/file - this one is for normal play

    https://www.mediafire.com/file/jdc42...reens.ini/file - this one is more performance heavy for screens

    You might also toy a bit with gamma/brightness to your liking.

    Where can these Cretan mercs be recruited? Playing Rhodes I owned Crete and am campaigning in Greece, but I don’t see them.

    Beautiful as always! Thank you for your work! Will the Odrysian Kingdom get overhauled too for some more uniform color variations =}

    They are available in Asia and Greece. If you are in a save game or have a startpos mod that hasn't been updated, they won't be there.

    Hello, some more general thoughts on a few units.

    1. A lot of faction's generals don't really benefit from reform upgrades, I think some of these are obvious oversight, for example Rhodes gets a Throax Hoplite that they can't recruit after reform, which is also vastly inferior to both the Throax spearman they can recruit (way less armor and less special formations.) and even worse than their original pick hoplite general as well.

    2. Speaking of which, the Rhodes picked hoplite general unit is worse than their elite hoplites in every single way, and they come at the same level and pop, I'm guessing some of these issues exist because of various changes to skills (for example one of them probably had inspire back in the days.) there are numerous examples of this, such as the Dacian Hoplite vs Chosen Spearman, I am assuming it use to be one of them had phalanx and the other shield wall? but now both is the same with one having slightly worse stats in every way.

    3. Thracian Hypaspist: again this general unit has only 25 armor which is worse than a lot of their better warrior level units. I guess it does have better attack/defense than their hoplites, but may I suggest that in these situation they should at least have 3 speed instead of 2 to reflect their more offensive nature?
    1180, an unprecedented period of peace and prosperity in East Asia, it's technology and wealth is the envy of the world. But soon conflict will engulf the entire region with great consequences and lasting effects for centuries to come, not just for this region, but the entire known world, when one man, one people, unites.....
