The NTW3 v9 Campaign patch allows players to setup DROP-IN BATTLES
....play opponents on-line when the opposing armies are evenly matched....
When attacking or defending the pre-battle screen will display the opposing armies, their relative strength vs each other and the availability to do a drop-in battle online vs a human opponent instead of the AI. The campaign player may have the option to initiate a drop-in battle with another player and the option to invite friends. The hosting campaign player should do a save_game and select the drop-in battle.
Suggestions for online campaign battles:
1.) Both player MUST HAVE the same NTW3 versions of the mod.
2.) Setup an opponent ahead of time to reduce the search time, the campaign game will also search online for an opponent from the drop-in battle list.
3.) Both players should use medium size armies and sync their graphic settings to medium (or low depending on their internet connection and cpu's) to facilitate the online the battle.
4.) The Campaign host will have to run the campaign map in the background while he's fighting the online battle, this will put a load on most cpu's until the battle is finished and the results displayed.
5.) The outcome of the battle will be displayed and the Campaign player will then be returned to the campaign map with the out come displayed. Remember to SAVE GAME after online battles !
When an opponent has accepted the invitation the campaign battle will start loading:
In this campaign battle the Kingdom of Italy player also has a French AI army to fight with him vs the online Russian opponent
If you hold the space bar down you can see where the French AI is deploying his units. You will not be able to control the allied AI units but try to coordinate your moves with them and stay out of the way.
After the battle is fought the results are displayed (hopefully in the Victory Screen), the human player will be dropped and it should return you to the campaign map with the results of the battle applied to armies involved.
