    What a disgrace! Jack Nicholson, playing perhaps one of his best roles in The Departed, doesnt get nominated for an Oscar!

    I said "perhaps" as well as "one of his best".
    Not "his best role".

    And Im more concerned with the fact that the Academy, in general, botched this year's nominations, not just with Jack Nich.

    Most of the event is just a big pile of ****.. Oh, then there's the one part where they give those awards to movies and people, that I usually watch.
    At least they have sense to nominate Clint Eastwood.

    "The Departed" almost seemed like a Shakespearean variant of HBO's "The Wire", which is way better anyhow.

    But Sopranos is also popular

    Some of us serfs can't afford HBO...

    I think their picks for Best Actor are odd. Ryan Gosling for Christ's sake?! I agree with the OP, I would pick Nicholson over him. Matt Damon was pretty damn good in that too.

    Then again, I haven't seen the Gosling movie, so I should probably withhold comment.
