I considered this Flinn, but he's gotta be connected to America somehow. Amerigo was from Renaissance Italy, but at least he mapped the Americas. Berlusconi only visited the US and the White House on a few occasions. An Italian American needs to be chosen, like John Travolta or Lady Gaga.

Yeah I agree with this completely. I hate the idea that a word can inherently be racist or wrong. Words have as much meaning and weight as we ascribe to them. The N word isn't racist when you just say it in a vacuum or sing it in a song. It only becomes racist when you use it in a pejorative or confrontational way.

Racism is treating someone differently due to their race, not saying a specific word.
