Thread: Microsoft to replace industry standard terms like whitelist, blacklist and master on GitHub with politically correct "race neutral" words.

But when the show’s official Twitter account put out a bland call for “Black voices to be heard” recently, commenters came after Chase. “Euthanize the police dog,” they said. “Defund the paw patrol.” “All dogs go to heaven, except the class traitors in the Paw Patrol.”
If you – as I have – worked on a TV show or movie in which police are portrayed as lovable goofballs, you have contributed to the larger acceptance that cops are implicitly the good guys
It’s a joke, but it’s also not. As US protests against racist police violence continue, the charges are mounting against fictional cops, too. Even big-hearted cartoon police dogs – or maybe especially big-hearted cartoon police dogs – are on notice. The effort to publicise police brutality also means banishing the good-cop archetype, which reigns on both television and in viral videos of the protests themselves. Paw Patrol seems harmless enough, and that’s the point: the movement rests on understanding that cops do plenty of harm.

Throw in in the pile of dumb leftists in America are lobbying for at the moment. So far they've gotten the tv show Cops and Live PD canceled as well.

It’s not that hard to do what Microsoft is trying to do. If you don’t make a publicity stunt out of it.

I work at a company that uses a term nobody would’ve associated with race or race neutrality until Microsoft made a big thing of doing their stuff. Why do we like it. We have one list of programs, not two. Red colored versions are security risks, blue colored versions are accepted. Make requests to be analyzed.

One thing is for certain: the more profoundly baffled you have been in your life, the more open your mind becomes to new ideas.

Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable. Let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all.

If it affects technology itself, it has officially gone too far.

it doesnt affect the technology. its just words, the tech will keep working. just a bunch of snowflakes getting triggered, dont get distracted.

its more important not to stop holding big money accountable. MS is a buisness, they dont give a damn about marginalised people. but as long as the system persists, this is the only thing we can do, make sure they lose money when they dont get with the program. sorry, reactionaries, you dont go woke, you go broke.

Lol, not financially. Getting woke and going broke is more about performative virtue signalling at this point. The more these idiotic mainstream liberal ideas get co-opted by corporations, the more empty they are. Get woke, go morally broke as the corporatist shills own things like pride month.

changing the narrative again, ponti? mad companies didnt go bancrupt because some idiots burned their nikes or "boycotted" star wars?

i know conservatives never had a moral leg to stand on, but you really need to stop projecting. just because you never had any values not dictated by capital doesnt mean everybody else is the same.

thats why, right now, progressives are challenging the "big government" that conservatives claim to be opposed to. meanwhile conservatives protest not being able to get a haircut, and suck up to government authority.

also, whine about updating language, while cheering the police on to protect the same "woke" businesses (unless you think walmart is a mom and pop shop). never a landing you fail to stick, eh?

    i am singularly impressd.

Well sadly, my Disney stock isn't doing so well now. Don't know what you mean by changing the narrative. The narrative changes itself with such frequency I can't tell if I'm a mass murderer for not wearing a mask or if I'm a paragon of black rights by rioting and burning down local businesses all while ignoring social distancing mandates. In terms of changing narratives, I have been left sooo far behind. But you seem to have just vomited a predictable neo-lib diatribe without any actual understanding of where I stand on these issues lol. The straw-man is strong with your posts, but the way you wish I would think is not the way I think. I'd elaborate but wasting my time is lame when I can usually charge so much for it.

oooh, look at me, i dont need arguments, i have money

cant say you are not a good conservative, property has more value than human lives, yeeehaaw!

dont beat yourself up, good conservatives are always overburdend by change. and since you are incapable of change, i have no trouble keeping up with where you stand, dont worry. its always the same.

but please, i draw the line at neo-lib. that would mean the only difference between us is me being slightly more uncomfortable with overt racism.

im not a tech guy, could you elaborate on the color coding at the end? i get red=bad, blue=good, but is this in the same category as the issue discussed?

Do you have any actual arguments to make? Dunking on me like I'm some Bush era neocon is gay. And please, please, don't make me do the srs mask. I really don't want to do the srs ponti thing.

    Red = Redskins
    Blue = Bluecoats
Can you tell me the name of this racist company that 'accepts' Bluecoats who massacred and genocided Indians, so I can go on the warpath?

It does. Lucky enough it isn't something that'll break the core but it is unnecessary circumstance, as Sattra stated quite correctly:

You think this is a minor thing to fix? Go ahead, update a doc and all the in between!

The real tragecy isn't even technology itself. It is how idiotic humanity has become. Once more.

Leave it to Infidel to not get it though.

But...we just got tired of looking up two lists so we smashed them together and called it what we wanted.

The thing I'm chuckling at is that most corporations have done this. So one of two things is happening. Either Microsoft is twenty steps behind. Or they're trying to do some seriously crazy PR. Take your pick.

Trust me baby I was an inquisitive teen during the Bush years and I left my mark among the American electorate. I'm a gentle lover, open minded and true. I cordially accept your invitation to jerk off but...without you what is the point? Seems to me you lack the balls to follow through. I wish I was surprised. Just another leftist shallow virtue signaler.

As a millennial though I have to fully disclose I love this, and we should probably bond over it. George Bush right? Come on, let's reach some kind of understanding.

sorry to make your balls blue, babe, but no means no. if i wanted to witness conservatives jerk off, id watch fox news.

but maybe we should discuss this over a drink, me having mine over here and you having yours really far away, because theres only so far we can take this metaphor without the grim jackboot of the mods coming down on us like your beloved thin blue line.

    "seek and you will find"

Some Libs who are loonies are seeking racism...and finding it everywhere.

Edit: corrected Libloonies to "some libs are loonies" as it is obvious the the term was too all inclusive. Not every lefty is in agreement with Microsoft's decision.

‘People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?

    ...

I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth.

Conservatives like poor JK Rowling, who is being boycotted for saying people who menstruate are women.
