Oh, I didn't even notice the border whoops. I do like the border color better on the second one!

And now that I see the lighten thing on the first set, I don't fancy it there so much either. have you tried doing a light colored drop shadow or glow effect instead? Or maybe a dark stroke around the text to make it pop

Ok but im a little confused now. Thanks anyway.

Hmm yeah i tried some effects like that. I will probably try to test more variations for a drop shadow. The different colours of text make it a bit tricky. I will try tho. Thanks for the suggestions!

The moderator one is based on a mycenaean dagger, as are the dark rusted metal and gold inlay that form the theme of the banners.
The citizen one furthermore had its soldiers on the left taken from the Hirschfeld workshop Krater. That one's still a wee bit too modern for the Trojan war setting (750 BC, whereas the Trojan war was 1200ish BC, but then again, the Iliad and the Odyssee were written down around the late 8th).

One obvious issue is of course, that the two symbols don't totally match, and that the citizen one's a bit sparse on the right side. But it should be good enough for inspiration if any of you need it.

Also, remember that the submission period will close during the day of the 6th of July. I won't be here during the weekend, so please proceed to post your submissions before next Monday if possible. Remember as well that only full entries will be considered valid.

I'm not a fan of either fonts, tbh. first one is too fat. Second one is too cliché. Neither are particularly pleasant to read. Frame's good now tho'

erm, I prefer the 1st one out of post 66 to that sorry! Though mainly becasue there's a disturbingly random relationship of cap's size to the rest of the text in post #69's examples!

Thanks, i dont really like any of those fonts, i dont feel satisfied with the result.
The lack of competitors is a pity too tho. I was looking forward to see some different ideas.

Well we have 5 different submissions, and it's more than we had for the 3K (4 in total IRRC), and honestly all of these are good ones, very different one from the other

However, I'm closing the submission thread right now, I do not expect any new submission. I'll be waiting a couple of days for Paleo to pop up if has any modification to apply to his submission (since Paleo is always very active and has been absent during the last week or so, I suspect he has issues IRL, so I'd like to wait for him a couple of days more).

Honestly, submission 1 & 2 are the best (in my opinion of course). The badges should also be clear and easily read. I think Sub. 1 and 2 do that the best.

I guess youre right. I was struggling with the text and the results are unsatisfactory i know. Also, its very likely i would have problems producing the full set thats required for the next stage of the competition cause of other things im busy with and also im moving to a new appartment by the end of this month. Therefore, i withdraw from the competition.

let's the poll finish and then we will see, ok? now that I've set up the poll and people has already voted (included for your submissions) it would be unfair to withdraw.

and don't give up before the competition is over, remember that: a) you'll have one month to make the second set of badges, should one or more of your submissions make it to the finals b) you'll get a solid rep reward for submitting the second set of badges c) I personally think that your submissions are very good and are very much different form the other ones

So let's finish the poll and then if you really want still, you can withdraw
