Tabletop Wargaming
I've just discovered a youtube channel where a group shows tabletop wargaming in a pc application, but I don't know if this software has been released or is a private development. They mainly play battles within Napoleonic Wars:
The Battle of Rohr 1809
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cA79nyOPJ64
The Battle of Trafalgar 1805
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXl4J-_t2Lo
I couldn't find anything similar in Steam, neither in google. The most similar games I am aware of are Field of Glory 2, Pike and Shot: Campaigns and Sengoku Jidai: Shadow of the Shogun. Such videos makes me to think that real scale battles are feasible under the Tabletop Wargaming concept. As regiments would work as a unit, contrary to Total War, CPU calculations would be lesser and therefore the CPU would be less stressed. A top GPU would also not be necessary as you can see in the attached videos. FPS would also not be a problem at all since games would work as strategy turn-based so you may run the game with 10 fps perfectly.
I really like the concept, hopefully we can see it in a pc platform. We are still in the digital era and I am pretty sure most people dream to reenact famous battles in history in a more realistic scale.
