He's cherry picking statistics and ignoring the other problems going on at the time.

Nothing like a bit of good old slash-and-burn pillage to make police brutality the lesser outrage.

Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Pity the man with no country or home, revile the one who forsakes his own.

For those wishing to read the research paper in full, here is the link and a short excerpt from the conclusion:

For subordinate groups in democratic polities, though, tactics matter. An“eye for an eye” in response to violent repression maybe moral, but this research suggests it may not be strategic.
These findings certainly seem to dovetail with what we know about African American voters. Their overwhelming support for established moderates like Biden (who has already condemned the violence) over radicals like Sanders (a candidate with a far more extensive program on criminal justice reform) provides some indication that they are more conservative than they are often assumed to be. It follows that they are unlikely to be impressed by riotous behaviour being incited by opportunists and political extremists, particularly when it is often minority communities which are being devastated by the violence.

He fails to mention other factors which really hurt his study. Like Democrats in the 1960s being very conservative so comparing them to Liberal democrats now makes no sense. Hell he doesn't even mention the Vietnam War, huge factor especially going into the late 1960s when it came to Democrats losing elections.

No, this has been factually disproven with actual studies provided, not just PBA like this Watson person. Riots and looting lead to electoral victory by the Democrat party...

Not it doesn't. Not only that it doesn't include the 1992 Los Angeles Riots. Probably because regardless of the 1992 riots it didn't hurt the Democrats in 1994 when Bill Clinton won the Presidency.

    Not in 1994.

Everybody likes to deny the Democrats had a solid conservative base until the 1960s. And then Lyndon Johnson as President strongarmed his party into passing the Civil Rights Act.
One thing is for certain: the more profoundly baffled you have been in your life, the more open your mind becomes to new ideas.

People quickly forget hardcore racists and conservatives like Strum Thurmond were Democrats before they switched over to the Republicans when the Democrats starting becoming liberal.

Are you disagreeing with my assertion that Watson's PBA is factually disproven by the actual studies provided?

Peacefully protests by kneeling during a song = OMFG!!!! You monsters. How dare you!!!
Takes to the streets in protest instead = OMFG!!!! You monsters. How dare you!!!

Seems to me that some people are just against black people protesting in general...

    Wonder why...

Don't need to provide any. The 1994 Presidential election alone destroys that point.

There was no presidential election in 1994.

You know what, thats correct. My mistake. It was actually 1992. The same year of the riots. In which the Demicratic candidate still won.

Aren't you failing to mention other factors in the 92 election?
