Thread: Death of George Floyd and Subsequent Riots.

I once watched an interview with a Palestinian man whose son was a suicide bomber. He told the interviewer, with tears of joy in his eyes, that he wished his other four sons would do the same.

That's right. While other parents love their children, dream of watching them grow up, of holding their newborn grandchildren, he saw his kids only as a means to strike a blow against the hated enemy.

The right-wingers saying we need more kids like Rittenhouse remind me of him.

This kind of sentiment isn't a left or right thing. It is a human thing.

Lead prosecutor started off good (first half) in closing, then got lost in the weeds and boring.
Defense lead in closing did better than I thought he would overall, but used the same stupid argument that lost him the exclusion of the enhanced interpolated still frame, and went on too long. Should have finished by show the events in full speed video.
Second chair prosecutor in (angry, defensive) rebuttal: Rittenhouse is a coward who brought a gun to a fistfight, and suggests Rittenhouse should have taken a beating (because everybody takes a beating).

The premise the prosecution has had to work with didn’t do them any favors, or at least, the premise they went with. To accept the prosecution’s argument is to concede the idea that Rittenhouse showing up to a protest with a gun invalidates his self defense claim, while Grosskreutz showing up to a protest with a gun and pointing it a Rittenhouse does not make the former any less of a victim.
Of these facts there cannot be any shadow of doubt: for instance, that civil society was renovated in every part by Christian institutions; that in the strength of that renewal the human race was lifted up to better things-nay, that it was brought back from death to life, and to so excellent a life that nothing more perfect had been known before, or will come to be known in the ages that have yet to be. - Pope Leo XIII

And Grosskreutz was carrying a concealed weapon without a permit (i.e. illegally), while, as the prosecution finally had to 'acknowledge', Rittenhouse was not illegally carrying (since he was not under 16, and it was not a short barreled rifle or shotgun) (minor in possession of a dangerous weapon charge was dropped).

    Edit:
Prosecutor: you lose the right to self-defense when you're the one who brought the gun.

    Edit:
Tell me you have never handled a gun before, without saying a word (lead prosecutor):

Flags the jury with finger on trigger and bolt closed, the bailiff should have jumped him. “Alec Baldwin School of Firearm Safety”

It would have been more amusing if one of the jury members went at and disarmed him...

    Edit:
The court had Rittenhouse draw the members to not sit on the jury.

Honestly, after hearing about how he just got out of the mental hospital having survived an attempted suicide, and his unprovoked chase after Rittenhouse, my theory is that Rosenbaum was trying to get Rittenhouse to kill him to complete his suicide. Just a theory

With all the hype around America’s blooming secular religious orthodoxy of “antiracism,” it’s unsurprising that some adherents jump at the opportunity for martyrdom. And thanks to that orthodoxy, the armed and unarmed assailants who pursued and attacked Rittenhouse are lionized as such. “Systemic bias” indeed.

Sadly, people with suicidal tendencies are sometimes known to put themselves into high risk, if not dangerous, situations out of apathy for their own safety.

Rosenbaum did not have a history of activism or political extremism. He was at the "protest" more by chance than design, and his aggressive behaviour appears to have been a product of mental illness.

I did not know before that 'Jump Kick Man' is black.
This proves Rittenhouse is a white supremacist racist.
Just look at his disparate treatment of the 4 people attacking him.
He actually shoots the three white men. The black man is not even worth hitting with his bullets...

In some ways Rittenhouse is a victim. Of course he ultimately made the choice to pull the trigger, but he didn't get to that point by himself. He was taken advantage of by callous, cowardly adults who should have (and did) known better.

Where are his militia buddies now? Are they going to help him once he's locked up?

What about all of those right-wingers praising him in comments on articles about the case? Are their likes and upvotes going to do him any good in prison?

What he needed was an adult in his life to tell him "Kyle, stop and think. Is it really worth it?

Those people on your social media and in your militia putting you up to this, they don't really care about you. They see you only as a means to an end, cannon fodder in their dumb culture wars. They're not your friends. Once you're dead or in prison they'll forget all about you and go groom the next kid to fight their battles. They've probably already started.

If someone is telling you to put yourself in a situation where you might be killed or kill someone else, you should ask why. And they'd better have a damn good reason, because your life is important. It's the only one you've got. If they can't give a clear reason why you should put yourself in such a situation beyond 'Because I don't like the way those people look or talk or think or pray.', you tell them to go to Hell. You tell them if they can't stand too share the planet with others, that's a problem with them and not everyone else. And you tell them that if their hatreds were so noble, so heroic and just and important, THEY would do the fighting instead of trying to send you to do it for them.

No Kyle, if you do this you won't be a hero or a martyr or anything like that. You'll be a chump, rotting in a grave or a prison cell while those who urged you on move on to the next battle of their culture wars. They won't even remember who you were in a few years. And if you go to prison and get out in a few decades-at the very least-they won't be there to help you salvage what you can of your wasted life."

Unfortunately Kyle didn't have anyone to tell him that, and so decided to throw his life away.

With how hard the judge is simping for him, it's pretty much a slam dunk for the defense. Kyle is not likely to see one minute in any jail.

He's gonna have a sit down with some dark brothers

He's not going anywhere, being that he needs to be made an example of US gun culture. And he does.

I don't get why the jurors are not sequestered for the duration of deliberations. There is an angry mob that has sword vengeance if they acquit. Their well being is in danger.

This shocking lack of understanding is why we're seeing more and more conflicts today.

In very ancient China, Confucius told his students if their parents were wronged, it's their obligation to kill, no matter who that might be. Often entire families were put to death and it wasn't considered excessive to turn against your own country for vengence.

In one of Germanic tribes if you run from battle that every men were oblieged to fight and die if necessary, your wife kills you and your children and then herself.

    Need more example?

How dare people went there, robbed their land and ask them to be nice about it? If you can't stand their values, just end them. Stop pretending everyone should live the same way we do. Our value is not superior - it just happens that we won and they lost.

Nothing wrong with the kid except he's on the losing side. There was a time when defending ourselves was a virtue and a requirement for citizenship. Now it's better to just hide behind others.

MSNBC producer suspected of trying to follow Rittenhouse jurors, judge says - Kenosha News
A member of the media who had been allowed in the courtroom during the Kyle Rittenhouse trial was kicked out and not allowed back in after they inadvertently took a photo of at least one juror. Those photographs were ordered to be deleted.

As of Thursday, the jury is now in its third day of deliberations on the five charges Rittenhouse still faces.
Ah yes, "free press" trying to doxx jurors so that they don't dare to make a verdict that goes against the Narrative.
