In case you didn't know, but the image for the hex badge are pretty much the same as the Modding Staff Director badge had in the R2TW themed badges.

EDIT: How about having an image for Cicero for either the Citizen or the Civitate badge?
This is a Troy theme, not Rome again

To be clear, this decision doesn't preclude a competition being run to decide the set of badges.

I'd be in favour of having a competition. It'd be nice to see if anyone else also wants to design badges - it's a good way to allow more people to be involved, I think. (Both in designing badges and in voting on them. That seems to me to be a good idea for badges, since non-Citizens can wear some of these badges, and all of us will see them in use. )

Beautiful badges. Especially Hexagon Administrator (no wonder you put it under your avatar in the picture)
But why did you choose Paris, the wife-snatcher, Trojan war perpetrator and killer of Achilles for the staffers symbol? Although he was endowed unearthly beauty and charms of seduction by Aphrodite's, he did not apply it all in the best way. If it were possible, I would prefer for example Diomede:

When do you think would be an appropriate time for a competition to be started? Sometime before Troy is released, after, something else entirely?

    Let me hear your thoughts.

Last time we run a competition for the 3K badges, this is the commentary thread, you can find more info in the archives.
At the time we did a 2 round competitions (first round 6 badges IRRC, then those who made it to the 2nd round submitted the full set); all in all it took quite a long time to run the competition, maybe this time we can think about doing a single round..

There's another point to consider: back with the release of ToB, there was a discussion about new badges somewhere, and IIRC most of people agreed that it wouldn't make sense to make new badges for a Saga game, but only for a major game.. last badge update was not much more than a year ago (considering the time that we had to wait for Squid actually implementing them), and considering the volume of work required to set up, run, participate and give the follow up with a competition like this, it would be good to consider this twice carefully, IMO...

Yeah one sound sounds more reasonable.

Would be interesting to see that discussion because the tone certainly seems to be different here.

As I've said before, I'm willing to do all of the work. I have no issues designing the entire set of badges myself, as I said in the OP, if no one else wants to enter a contest. If there is a contest, I have no problems running and setting up the competition myself.

I don't even remember if it was public or not, I'm an old man Imagine I can recall where we had it! However, my point is that I personally agree that Troy isn't as important as other titles to get its own badges.

a competition would be in order in any case, maybe very simplified, with one single round.. also, as a Hex I can tell you: we are not going to change the badges just because so, at the least the quality has to be consistent with what we have now and used to have in the past, so even if only one set is submitted, still membership should be voting to approve it

The quality so far seems to be pretty good, so I dont think that's in question. Seems to me that if theres the will to go ahead and shake things up, we might as well change the style once every 2 years or however long its been since 3k released.

Havent played 3k so I dont really care or know, neither frankly does the artistic style of our current badges appeal to me, as others also feel. Although I appreciate the quality.

If someone's willing to add in, there's a new game (even small) and the membership ultimately approves, I'd say why not.
