Install issues ntw3 8.7

Just started playing NTW again through Steam. I'm trying to install V8.7 I've downloaded all 5 parts to the mod and followed the install video on YouTube , However when I try to install the core file it asks me to browse the file to run in which is on the D drive and has per the video instructions I select steam library steam , apps and the common file. The message I get is ( Napoleon.exe does not seem to be installed in that folder please select the correct folder ).

I only have the original version of the game installed do I need any of the other versions installed first.

if anyone has any pointers that would most welcome.

Go to your Steam Library; right click NTW and select Properties.
Go to Local files and select Verify Integrity of Files.
This will update all of your NTW files.

Thanks for the help , however 1 file vailed to verify. Any advice on the way forward ?..

Remove the entire NTW game and all files then re-install.

I had the same issue. I solved it by selecting steamapps/common as the install directory instead of steamapps/common/napoleon total war.

I downloaded NTW3 and when I try to open the launcher it says "Failed to execute script 'main' due to unhandled exception: [errno 13] Permission denied 'prefs.ini'. I don't got a pref.
