Yes, both player and AI can use stakes, so it's fair.
I suppose that AI itself, without skripting help can't do such things. And have to say that even with skripting it's not so easy to force AI to do it right.

Never been easy, but it sounds like the attempt is being made with some success. This has gone on for a while now, I hope it can result in a bold new future... RBAI is fine and all but surely not the best we can do.
With great power, comes great chonky dragons to feed enemies of the state. --Targaryens?
Spoiler for wait what dragons?:
A new feature that I will bring into BAI is tactical analyzer for AI that estimates player's army content and choose optimal field formation and initial tactics for AI in battle.
Also, I composed a strategical analyzer (not tested yet) to change AI recruitment policy according to player's one. Good ol' game "stone/scissors/paper". If player recruited many ranged units AI will try to recruit more cavalry and so on.
Finally I'm done with it, after 2 days of brainstorming. Looks like any combination of units in stack will give same result.
Reproduction of this effect in another mod requires EDU customisation for stakes deploying unit.
I'm worried about those ai horses that will probably run back to their own stakes and be destroyed by their own stakes.
getting older
This is an example of crossing battle.
Not bad but I see where I can improve it.
Sad details from my mod - engine doesn't recognise river as a river so no water trail effects and ground explode looks like dust not water droplets.
Ok, here we are, new version of BAI TrueGeneral Beta, tester's report.
Two battles, AI is attacker, medium difficulty, equal quantity of armies. AI was defeated twice, but I think it's a good performance for those starting conditions.

I've been using your BAI in a variety of mods. And having a fantastic time, if you want any specific feedback, let me know.
Battle with AI reinforcements new behaviour, they gather with main army for combined attack.
Human is still more competent than AI so I won the battle because of initial wise placement of my army on the top of the mountain on strategic map. But now the battle is more intensive and interesting, it's not a previous bug using when AI divided his armies to be beaten one by one.
Next step in AI armies cooperation. First - an example of AI attack on me with main army and reinforcements using vanilla files.
Spoiler for PreBattle screen:
After some brainstorming I find a way to win this fight, this is a culmination of my successful attempt.
And finally example of AI performance on my TrueGeneral Painless Steel Beta code. No way for me to win.
