This is my favorite political compass.

Political Compass: 'Rage of Party'/Queen Anne edition

In the late 17th and early 18th century - especially in the reigns of William III and Anne - Britain was convulsed with political conflict. Tories against Whigs, stout independent country members against wicked courtly rakes, Dissenters versus Churchmen, Jacobites versus those loyal to the Hanoverian succession - it was a wild time!

Have you ever wondered how you would have fitted into this great age of political dispute, polemical writing and intrigue? Are you a bigoted High Church Tory? A sly courtly Junto Whig? A stout country backwoodsman? Or are you an extremist who espouses either Jacobite loyalism and absolutism, or radical Deist republicanism? Find out in 'Political Compass: Rage of Party/Queen Anne' edition!
It's only ten questions, so give it a shot.

I tried both. Seems about as useful as the political compass test, but it’s a nice change of scenery I suppose.

Edit: Also, let the record reflect that I am certified 0% politically biased

Of these facts there cannot be any shadow of doubt: for instance, that civil society was renovated in every part by Christian institutions; that in the strength of that renewal the human race was lifted up to better things-nay, that it was brought back from death to life, and to so excellent a life that nothing more perfect had been known before, or will come to be known in the ages that have yet to be. - Pope Leo XIII

Whiggism is hard-coded into the US system of government and American culture more broadly.

The Whigs' key policy positions were the supremacy of Parliament (as opposed to that of the king), tolerance of Protestant dissenters and opposition to a "Papist" (Roman Catholic) on the throne, especially James II or one of his descendants.

Whiggism fashioned itself into a generalised belief system that emphasised innovation and liberty and was strongly held by about half of the leading families in England and Scotland, as well as most merchants, dissenters, and the middle classes. The opposing Tory position was held by the other great families, the Church of England, most of the landed gentry and officers of the army and the navy. Whigs also opposed Jacobitism, a movement of traditionalists tolerant of Roman Catholicism, with substantial Tory overlaps. While in power, Whigs frequently referred to all opponents as "Jacobites" or dupes of Jacobites.

Whiggism originally referred to the Whigs of the British Isles, but the name of "Old Whigs" was largely adopted by the American Patriots in the Thirteen Colonies. Following independence, American Whiggism became known as republicanism.
When a man believes in Whiggism, I am his friend and comrade without further introduction.

Although this test is about the US, still sounds about right

Apart from the answer for virtually every question being "It depends" which leads to forced binary decisions...

Cope's 9 axes was more fun. But the results weren't too dissimilar. For the record... while I do tend to lean towards libertarian socialism... I am definitely not anti-statist or anarchistic. It seems You can't have welfare without a state and I'm well keen on UBI as an ironic means to foster independence.

You'd think a forum for a game that is all about states smashing each other for supremacy wouldn't attract so many socialists.

Maybe it's because most of the conservatives have successful careers and are out working.

Libertarian Socialism ..... sounds like a contradiction in terms. Other than the label though it's about right.

I'm suspicious of one thing though. I had quite a few 'neutral' answers, but looking at the results I wonder if they are treated as such or discarded as 'don't know'.

Yes. It would be a glorious sight to bring a bunch of Cold War Marxist-Leninists into our time and have them debate with today's socialists. That's why I cringe whenever Fox News calls today's socialists "Communist" or "Marxist." The Communists of old were a true force to be reckoned with.

Especially now with the lockdowns forcing businesses to shutdown and people losing their job... Great career opportunities, really.

Some questions were a bit ambiguous. I answered them on the basis that the term "nation" referred to the central government and not the tribe/ethnicity. The biggest issue, however, was that the test didn't take into account the role played by each situation's special conditions. Stance on authority, for example, is largely determined by whether your faction is in power or in the opposition:

Imagine modern British taking seriously the usurpation of a queen belonging to a made-up royal house, instead of Francis II of the Wittelsbach dynasty. Utterly disgraceful and decadent.

And i am part of the Junto, because i care more about power than principle.
I wouldn't oppose a Hannoverian on the british throne, though.
