I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say Elite 2 because I just bought Dangerous.

Both wrong.
Despite the looks reminiscent of TIE Interceptors, and even IIRC shooting green, turbolaser-like bolts ingame, those craft or the entire game are not in any way affiliated with Star Wars.
Over a day without activity here, I guess it's time for a hint.
Despite the fact that it featured spaceships, it had even underwater levels.
Descent 2

Last two guesses are Wing Commander or Independence War though I do not rembmer water levels in either of them. It's pretty clear that it's not Archimedean Dynasty because that game had no space elements.

No luck with last guesses this time. You haven't even managed to hit the right genre so far.
It's an intro, so it gets a bit deceptive about gameplay.
Can we get another clue or picture
I don't think I can provide another screenshot, the intro is I believe the only cutscene of the whole game, and on this shot you have distinct twin bosses of one of early levels as well as player's ship.
Hm. While the genre is one of the oldest ones in computer gaming, it's almost dead now, with only newer games being for mobile platforms and indie titles. The company that published it still exists under different name, while the original name and logo have been bought and are used by different company now.
I second this. And if the intro is the only cutscene of the game, then just show another pic from the intro. Clearly we are nowhere near the right answer, so even something you think is "obvious" will probably still be totally obtuse and unknown to us.
Also, is the genre something like a text-based adventure?

Master of Orion?
Cause tomorrow is a brand-new day
And tomorrow you'll be on your way
Don't give a damn about what other people say
Because tomorrow is a brand-new day
Well, there is no other dead genre. Side scroller Mario-like games are alive and well. City builders are alive. Fighting games are alive. The only other dead genre is flight sims, which is crelarly not the case here.
