Scorched Planet it is, Derc has the ground.

It was one of my first three multimedia games, along with Destruction Derby and Mech Warrior 2, bundled with the Matrox Mystique graphics board.
The gameplay was combat search and rescue in an APC like vehicle which could also morph into a VTOL atmo-space gunship.
The player had to evacuate the colonists of a planet under alien attack.
Who else has played it?

Damn, you're ancient, Paleologos. No, never played it. Mid/Late 90s was the time when I just started PC gaming. Can recall the style of cutscenes from back then very well. So had a check for DOS-Games and somehow recalled it. Had seen it on a Top 100 list once.

Here's something a little more modern.
