Building pricing?

Thread: Building pricing?

    Default Building pricing?

I wonder what the general idea about the rasied building costs are? Ports for instance is raised from 800->5000 while some other buildigns seems to be about the same. I don't know the economy figures but does port and the later buildings really add THAT much to trade that they are worth building?

I wonder the same about support buildings. Lets say that I want to help my troops a bit with their armor. So I build the 3 first buildings, leather tanner, blacksmith, armourer. Total cost 17000.
In vanilla the total cost would be 4200, a difference of 12800. However, my mailed knights only increased from 680->850. In vanilla the upgrades equals ~6 knights. With the mod it equals 20 knights.

When playing the game I wonder if building this or that upgrade is worth the money or if I should build troops or something else instead. How many units will this castle produce and how much impact will the armor upgrades have? 6 knights worth of...? Perhaps. 20 knights worth of...? No way, in that case I have to make sure all my troops will be produced there and that's not likely when my empire expands and the front moves from northern France to Egypt.

Please explain the rationale for these changes when it comes to pricing. Perhaps it is only me who is missing something or looked at the wrong numbers?

I do like it almost all of it. I think you've done a great job and that's why I play with your mod instead of someone else's! No need for you to be so defensive...

I don't want to edit any files and change any prices manually when I don't know how you thought, and my changes might imbalance something that you have already carefully considered before implementing. I just wonder how you thought about the prices of the particular buildings when you changed them.

I made the price so high not to balance the game better but to be more realistic. to make a wall should be much more expensive than to make a tavern, right? In 1.0 I was told everybody had to much money so I made all a more expensive and buildcost was also lowered and highred to make it more realistic. But I can give it a look and try to optimise it more and make it more balanced.

Think of it as, gathering materials, hiring experts, etc. It is extremely easy to change the files for money. This, as i recall, is based on Lands to Conquer which aims to slow the campaign. If u have any other questions, feel free to ask, i will answer to the best of my ability to save Ramm the trouble.

I also like RTJ. All mods have risen building pricing, some of them very high. How is it possible to solve this manually? Or have to wait for RTJ 2.0 (right?)

The way to solve this manually involves some work. Go to your M2TW directory, then into the roadtojerusalem folder, find the file called Export_descr_buildings.txt, open it, and then edit the costs of the buildings. hope this helps

Look, a building costs more because you get double the money. (double turns from 1yearperturn). So economy buildings make tons more.

Take this, port gets you 300 more trade a turn. port hangs out for 200 turns vanilla (400 rtj)

port gives you 60,000 in vanilla for having it around almost all game for just 800, little odd.
rtj: 120,000 for 5000. The ratio is better and makes it more of a "investment" which is the basis of improving your economy (put money in, eventually money comes back and then some)

IMO, the High-end-Buildings (as well as the high-end-units) should be even more expensive. (On the other hand, the high-End-Units should also be better; in vanilla as well as RTJ, the difference between armoured knights and lets say gothic knights is not very much)

Well, lets have an average between expensive and cheap, then people can adjust it to their preferences later.
