Antifa Plans Wave of Demonstrations on Streets as U.S. Election Polls Close

Protesters supporting the Black Lives Matter and Antifa movements are organizing protests beginning on Tuesday night.

One Twitter post depicting a police car and a brick alongside the phrase "ballot box" with an arrow directing that it should be going through the vehicle's window has attracted more than 17,000 likes since it was posted on the social media platform.
Alongside the phrase #seattleprotests, there are calls to target the police and create disruption.

Using the Twitter handle @justjae2206, someone calling themselves Jae, a Black Lives Matter supporter, has written: "We will not be stopped no matter what this election brings. Neither side is for black lives. Be out there!!"

Alongside the post is a mock up of a poster showing a time of 7 p.m. with a burning ballot box and a call to "Revolutionaries, Anarchists and Anti-Fascists."
    https://www.newsweek.com/antifa-plan...-close-1544038
The unified police command declared a protest in downtown Portland a riot Wednesday night and the Oregon National Guard was activated, as election results continued to roll in across the country.

Authorities said the National Guard was deployed because there was "widespread violence" happening in downtown Portland, especially in the area of Southwest 10th and Harvey.

Guard members were dressed in their military uniforms, authorities said.

Police said they rescinded the riot declaration shortly after 9 p.m., but they said a group of people later gathered at Lownsdale and Chapman parks across the street from the Justice Center and then started an unpermitted march through the streets. Police said they declared the gathering an unlawful assembly after marchers threw objects at them.

Of these facts there cannot be any shadow of doubt: for instance, that civil society was renovated in every part by Christian institutions; that in the strength of that renewal the human race was lifted up to better things-nay, that it was brought back from death to life, and to so excellent a life that nothing more perfect had been known before, or will come to be known in the ages that have yet to be. - Pope Leo XIII

Maybe you should go to Portland, get into the middle of an antifa peaceful protest and start scolding them and lecturing them about grown-up politics.
I'm sure they would listen to you...

Rejoice, followers of Trump, Trumpism will stay in a divided America - and Trump will run again in 2014. Or princess Ivanka, who knows.

Europe congratulates Biden (and itself) – POLITICO
Within moments, however, the congratulatory messages were popping across the Continent, like Champagne corks on New Year’s Eve
The major European losers are Slovenia's prime minister (on wednesday, the inept and incompetent diplomat congratulated Trump, arguing it was "pretty clear that American people have elected Trump", and Orban, obviously.
Boris isnt happy.Let's keep in mind that Biden opposed the U.K.'s departure from the EU, and even worse, Biden said that there will be no trade agreement if Johnson breaks his Brexit pact with the EU over the Irish border.
Meanwhile, Bolsonaro, the notorious fascist in waiting, asks about Biden "Is this what we want for Brazil?"

...But the reality is that race–and racism–continues to profoundly shape American life.
Biden is deeply aware of this fissure. He ran on healing it, and exit polls show he won over voters concerned about racial justice. Betting that most Americans believe in equality and justice, among other democratic values, Biden referred to his campaign as a “battle for the soul of the nation.”
With more than 70 million votes received and counting, Biden may be favored to win the election, but to uproot the forces that perpetuate the deeply entrenched racism in this country, it’ll take more than maybe half the country.

You spent the last 4 years telling the left that they had to get over it and brushing off armed thugs invading state capitals and plotting to kidnap and murder governors as no big deal. Now that the tables have turned suddenly every threat is serious?

Just go away quietly into the shadows and let us rebuild the country you almost destroyed.

Trump has diminished and isolated the US economically and politically around the world, in ways that we'll never recover from. Who will agree to any kind of treaty or trade deal with this country again when it might be cancelled out of petty spite less than 4 years later? His idiotic trade war with China has left large sections of our agricultural industry without a market to sell to. It's all gone and never coming back.

He is a con man, who left devastation in his wake. The university, the foundation, all his businesses that went bust leaving other people holding the bag. Now our nation is holding the bag.

What a big relief, one can start to have a hope for a better future in the DSA and the world! I'm sorry, but i have so much no pity with Trumpists and affiliates like all the pink-hair haters, lol.

Like the flat-Earthers, nothing will ever convince these people that they're wrong.
That's true. We have those people everywhere on earth. Unfortunately, in the DS, they are very (abnormal) numerous.
As written in this thread earlier, it can't be fixed by the Biden administration in 4 years. It'll need decades.
And of course, it is possible, that in 4 years, another such representatve (potds) returns, while one can be almost 100 % sure, no. 45 was a very unique case.
So hope stays, it can't get more worse.

Umm..... I am going to go out an crazy limb here but I think they mean less military involvement in world affairs instead of backing out of the Paris Accords, Iran deal, WHO etc.

Instead he gave us continual military action in Afghanistan (almost 20 years now), Iraq, Syria and about 5 other nations. Still supporting that wacky Saudi regime with weapons and used his first veto to defeat a bi-partisan bill that would end support for the Saudis after the Khashoggi murder. Tried really hard to start a war with Iran this year (yes that was early 2020). All of that despite the fact that he campaigned in 2016 on a populist ticket of getting the US out of these endless conflicts that the US have been involved in literally non-stop since 1945.

I think that was what the left meant by "diminished presence" on the world stage.

Why America's Attitude Towards Racism Hasn't Really Changed -November 16, issue of TimeAmerica Had a Reckoning on Race This Year. The Election Showed How Little Has Changed
    From your article:
When it came time to vote, tens of millions of Americans evidently shrugged off the racism. Many say they don’t like Trump’s handling of race but prefer his approach to the economy. That makes sense: sacrificing the welfare of a minority group for economic prosperity may not be uniquely American, but it is a part of the American DNA. For some others, Trump’s stoking of racial hostilities has been more a feature of his presidency than a bug. At Trump’s rallies, adoring crowds repeated and amplified the President, whether it was his reference to COVID-19 as “Kung flu” or adopting a chant of “Send her back” in reference to Ilhan Omar, a member of Congress born in Somalia.
This is precisely what I'm referring to. The narrative for the last four years has been that Trump is the dying gasp of a racist fringe minority that is holding the country hostage. Lo and behold, when the election comes down to the wire and the results are not the landslide such a narrative would logically predict despite record turnout, the response from the left is not to admit they were wrong, nor ask why it is their candidates were not as popular as they'd assumed. No, the response is to do a rhetorical 180 and seamlessly shift the goalposts so that racism must be an even bigger problem than we thought (!!!!), because otherwise, how couldn't more Americans vote Democrat? They've learned nothing from 2016. Such unfalsifiable premises produce the ideological blindness and self righteous moral entitlement to political control we've seen from the left, feeding the right wing narrative about "aloof, pseudointellectual left wing elites." it's why the left didn't see 2016 coming. I'd wager it's also why this election was so close despite predictions of a blue wave, why Democrats lost House seats, and why they'll keep on having to share power with a political party with whom most Americans disagree on bread and butter issues.

So racist that Trump increased his share of the vote among minority groups across the board (and both sexes), as I heard, and from what I can tell reading complaints about it from leftists.

Trump supporters will do anything they can to gum up the works and cause chaos between now and Jan 21st. Anything to deny Biden a clean, respectable win.

And then on Jan 21th - SUDDENLY Republicans will demand bi-partisanship and be totally concerned about deficits and the debt.

    They really are that shameless.

Thats what they say, but it it doesn't make sense. First, a racist leader should not be trusted in any circumstance, moral values are important. I'm not comparing Trump to Hitler, but before the Nazis took control of Germany, million Germans were unemployed. That is to say, economy isn't everything.
Second, it's a false dichotomy. Economy is good for prosperity and inequality is bad for society.

In fact, Biden vows to fight racial inequality with economic agenda (please don't say Biden can't tax the rich...)

Biden is also proposing to make public college tuition-free for students, and that's good. Education is a pillar of an advanced society.

For my part, I would go further, most American now support universal healthcare. Since a long time ago, the American College of Physicians says that the United States needs a healthcare system that provides care for everyone.

    --------

I have sad news for Bannon’s followers. Trump's former chief strategist, white supremacist, crusader for the far-right, virulent anti-Muslim, was banned forever from the Twitter.
Steve Bannon: the 'apostle' of violence has been banned from ...

after suggesting the execution of federal officials who would be preventing him evidence of the president's victory after the November 3elections ended.
Bannon tweeted that he would “stick the spiky heads” of employees, in reference to Tudor-era England - a time when the British reporter(and not only) had a terrible habit of placing the severed heads of enemies sent on logs or sticks, to serve warning to possible future offenders. A video with the same message has also been removed fromYouTube.
...earlier this year, Bannon was arrested for alleged fraud with donors in a fundraising campaign to build the wall on the border with Mexico

There's no "instead" though. Sorry you're not a fan of fighting ISIS, al Queda and the Taliban.....? How would you have fought those enemies "diplomatically?" The WHO helped China cover up their role in causing the pandemic. If you don't support withdrawal, what would be your response to punish the WHO for their behavior from within? The Paris Climate Accords have no binding enforcement mechanism. What value do you place in it, and how does the US' participation or non-participation affect our ability to reduce our carbon footprint, etc? The US is left relying on the Saudis as a frenemy partner in the Gulf ever since an Islamist coup in Iran that deprived us of our former key ally in the region. How would you "diplomatically" reject both Iran and Saudi while maintaining US leadership without any real regional partners left apart from Israel? Diplomacy is great - if you can enforce it - aka "endless conflicts since 1945."

Many on both sides of the aisle like to claim they support US leadership, but then reject the hard work of leading. Meanwhile, Americans are happier with the US' position in the world than at any point since 2003:

I'm not, but I also understand that diplomacy means nothing without credible strength to back it up. You can't have your cake and eat it too. America can afford to speak softly and project soft power precisely because she has a very big stick for all to see. This is something the US diplomatic corps understands:
“Diplomacy is not an alternative to military force; it is the use of all elements of U.S. force in a coordinated, cumulative way to achieve our results in other countries,” said former U.S. ambassador to Iraq James Jeffrey, a diplomat who spent much of the last decade focused on the Middle East. “I’m not sure the administration has the tradecraft right.”

“Sometimes I fear that policy is advocated in the knowledge that there is not a will to carry it out, but people don’t have the courage of their convictions to say ‘we are just going to talk and not use force,’” Jeffrey said. “They don’t want to say that because it is politically inconvenient.”

The recent deals on Iran’s nuclear program and Syria’s chemical weapons resulted directly from the threat of U.S. military might, Jeffrey said, and “decades of building up credibility that when we do act, we act credibly and efficiently and we don’t just wander away.”

“It was the threat of military force ironically that got to the chemical weapons agreement,” Jeffrey said. “That is how the world works. You cannot separate diplomacy from military force.”

    https://www.defenseone.com/ideas/201...t-other/78014/
Democrat poll respondents now claim to support US world leadership at historic numbers, a 20 point surge compared to 2010. Most people do. Yet, there seems to be a disconnect when it comes to the military, with those on the left showing the biggest gap:

People can like the general idea of US leadership all they want, but unless they are willing to accept the necessity of the credible threat of force, the international cooperation Democrats favor in huge numbers amounts to rhetoric.

The election isn't over because the news media doesn't get to certify election results or crown a world leader. I think Biden will win, but before that a lot of corruption is going to be exposed. That's what they're afraid of.

All the states in question are still being contested.

Lol. Yeah, possible that no. 45 must be carried out of the Oval Office in a white jacket.

    Back to seriousness:
What the Democrats desire to realise is something like a civilised country and society for the DSA. And a USA "again" (well, eventually debatable that there was once a "united states").
For the Reps (but not all of them) and ofc moreso the Trumpists including most Libertarians, this means socialism.
Objectively, the latter are out of touch.

#"there can be no doubt about it: the enemy stands on the Right!" 1922, by Joseph Wirth.
