I often get a CTD after finishing a battle and going back to the campaign map
Anything I can do about it?

I get a crash to desktop without any error message.
Any graphical settings that should be set low or turned off? Or is there any error log to check for possible causes?

I'm afraid it's the old unlimited men issue. There are a multitude of options from lowering graphics, to waiting up to 30 seconds before going back to the campaign map. The other is to go to your preferences file and change the unlimited men line from TRUE to FALSE and this will solve the problem. The downside is you are not guaranteed to get your reinforcements to arrive in time on the battlefield.
