    Default Advice on Rome

First of all, whoa. You made something incredible, i just leaved attila and switched to rome2 cause of you

Then, i never played DEI but i'm a medieval2 veteran, my favourite mod was Bellum crucis, then never played much more so i'm not so expert in rome 2

    1) first question, i like challenging games, so i started a game yesterday at VH/N, cause i read that battle difficulty should be normal or the battle mechanics are broken (i like challenge but not a triarii killed by peasant); do you have any advice to first steps with romans? i think i'll take arretium and then face epirus
    2) since i made just a year, there are some submod you suggest? i like very in depth game, so the more mechanics are in the more i like

    thank and keep working

    1) yeah better not to play battles more than N. You can try it after a while, though. Not recommended but it won't create really bugged issues.

    2) stay stick at least with a campaign with DeI vanilla, so to understand features and choices' pace

there are many submods, you'll find everything in the submod forum.
    Here are the main ones:

    - all the official ones (they are stickied in the submod forum), things like hardcore/softcore and many more dealing with specific things

    - Alternative Economy (Kam's and Dardo's version): rebalance how the money per turn is given so to give player a different gameplay style and aid AI more efficiently . It's hardcore style. Best experienced along with Cultural Tensio (Dardo's) and Age of Hellenism (Seleukos). These last 2 submods can be played as standalone too
    - Data Venia (Ygraine): it overhauls most things, both in campaign map and battles
    - Testudo (me): slower and harder pace, new features introduced
    - Realism (Scipio): a sort of compromise between Alternative Economy and Testudo, with some peculiarities too
    - Check the first 2/3 pages of the submod forum, there have been some recent works from other guys. Not much sense into going further than the 3rd/4th page

    dei vanilla, VH/N is good.
unit size at least on large if comp can handle it, game is more balanced for that.

for rome, take arretium then face epirus. if u dont plow them right away and lose southern italy its fine, just play a bit defensive and build up rome province and you'll have alot of income.
if u do plow epirus, don't take their greece settlement, fight it and subjugate them to get imperium 3

put a half stack each at northern italy ,arretium and the other place to defend vs barbs., make those generals into econ traits and they will sit in italy the entire game to boost econ.
after u get polybian reform at turn 40, u should have a very strong economy and tier3 towns now.

go take scicility, then build a full stack escorting navy and 3 stacks to hit carthage, leave 1 stack inbetween lilybaem and that other coastal town to defend both places vs navy ninja. syracouse is a walled settlement so they cant navy ninja that.

research tier 3 capital tech and upgrade that asap for massive income and big garrison upgrade - u will need this to defend against navy ninjas when u start fighting carthage.
there will be many battles against the numidans after u take carthage, these will be easy with testudo. u will eventually be able to secure carthage and garama. leave a army on the east most settlement of carthage province to defend, rest push west to take all of africa and eventually into spain. circle around and you'll eventualy have the mediterranean coast secured.

o ya there might be a civil war in there somewhere, manage ur politics, nto gonna go into detail here.

thanks, i was already of the idea of taking arretium.
got arretium and subjugated etruria that was taken by veneti, then i took advantage of a troop movement of epirus and took taras, then i took arretium from veneti that declared me war.
now i'm in 266 and carthage declared war on me, made peace with epirus but daorsi attacked me, after their defeat in arretium we are in peace.
    woa, it seems beautiful congrats
