Icon5 How to use the default unit voices?

    Howdy great peeps,

I like the EB mod a great deal, but TBH.. I do not like the custom voices.
How would I be able to use the old voices from vanilla Rome: Total War?

    Thanks!

Unfortunately it's not easy. It's pretty hard to do.

It would be painful, and probably cause the game to crash since there are way more units on EB than there are on vanilla, but what you would need to do is open up the export_unit_sound file for both vanilla and for EB, look up the code that associates a unit on vanilla with its sound tag, copy over each of those lines of text for the corresponding EB unit, and then replace all the sound files in EB with copies of the .wav files in the vanilla 'Sounds' folder.

Step 1, find the Sounds folder in your vanilla directory

Step 2, open up the vanilla file

Step 3, open up the EB sounds folder

Step 4, open up the EB file

Step 5, copy over all the relevant code from the vanilla file to the EB file, and overwrite all the relevant .wav files in EB sounds folder with copies of the .wavs in the vanilla folder.

DISCLAIMER: Do this at your own risk, it will almost certainly cause problems with your game, I'm sure of it.

To be honest you're the first person I've ever heard who actually dislikes the EB voice acting. How can you not like "CHAONION A-GE-MA!!!" being shouted at you all day? Even if you don't like it, voice acting should hardly be the deal-breaker for a mod as good as this one. Just adjust your volume settings. Turn up the music or the sound effects and lower the speech, and the voice acting won't bother you so much. It's much easier to do that than to mess around with the files, and also won't cause unfixable permanent errors and crashes requiring a clean reinstall.
