    Default Knights_Templar_Ug2_Fix

    I found it weird that other 3 orders have armour upgrade_2 while templars only have armour upgrade_1. So I made a fix to enable upgrade_2 model for templar knights.

    1 unzip

    2 copy unzipped files to game dir

    3 search "Knights Templar" in edu,
    change
    armour_ug_levels 3, 4
    armour_ug_models Knights_Templar, Knights_Templar_ug1
    to
    armour_ug_levels 3, 4, 5
    armour_ug_models Knights_Templar, Knights_Templar_ug1, Knights_Templar_ug2

    4 run the game with [io] file_first enabled either in config or in bat

    And it's possible to have dismounted templars, dismounted hospitallars or any other knights dismounted go melee with swords instead of lances.

    A more tricky way to dismount knights is to turn them into bowmen with only 2 arrows(that's a hard coded min limit). When they've done firing all 2 arrows they became true heavy infantry. Lances will dissapears. They carry swords even when they are idle.

    I believe the initial choice to give the Templars only one upgrade was due to their dissolution after being charged with heresy by the French king.

    What a great point! That shows uncharacteristic consideration for historical accuracy from CA. Although it had a lot less to do with religion than with economics and politics- the templars were just too rich and too powerful. That made them both a threat and a target.

    Are you going to make a dl mod with those dimounted units? I think alot of people would be interested in having dis. order knights. Everyone who wants dismounted order units pine away here, maybe zhumin1978 will listen!

    Holy cow. I thought you could only dismount the crusaders into a feudal knight looking unit (Everyone having great helms). yet you've managed to do so and keep their their flat helmets with open faces.

    Did you do that with the arrow trick? Because perhaps it's work for other units?

    I guess this mod is not compatible with DarthMod, Burreks K&K and basically any mod that uses it's own battle_models.modeldb, coz it will be overwritten?
    Is there any way to make it work, without having to hassle every modder to make it compatible?

    You don't need to overwrite the entire file, just edit the individual unit info you need. So just paste in this new Templar section and other relevant data, and you should be fine.
