Max von Sydow has passed away at age 90.
“It is with a broken heart and with infinite sadness that we have the extreme pain of announcing the departure of Max von Sydow, on March 8, 2020,” a statement from his widow Catherine von Sydow read, sent via the actor’s international reps who confirmed to Deadline that he passed away on Sunday, March 8.

Magnificent actor with a ton of charisma. He played roles from near silent Ingmar Bergman arthouse nonsense to Ming the merciless in Flash Gordon.
Not sure if he was a very skilled (he showed the emotional range of Clint Eastwood in the films I saw) but he was gripping on the screen. His role in the Diving bell and the Butterfly was a beautiful little cameo, definitely an actor who gave bang for buck.

Good movie. Love back in the day when buttons had distinct tones and you could phone phreak (or the analog basis that allowed tapping). I recall correctly War games pushed the envelope twice with same hack.

RIP. Sydow was a fantastic actor. Can't remember, was Game of Thrones the last thing he was in? Certainly one of the most recent.

He's very well known for his work in The Exorcist and a few other things but the man is big in sci-fi and fantasy for all the little and big things he's done. He voiced Vigo in Ghostbusters 2, as said, Ming in Flash Gordon, Liet Kynes in Dune, Fargo in Judge Dredd, The Tracker in What Dreams May Come, Burgess in Minority Report, Three-Eyed Raven in Game of Thrones.Originally Posted by Cyclops

And he had a big presence in a genre, much less movies. And people that enjoyed Sci-Fi and Fantasy just enjoyed watching him. Believe me, he'll be missed.

A shame. Albeit the only thing I know him from was Conan the Barbarian and Flash Gordon.
For some reason I always confuse him with Christopher Plummer who is somehow also 90.
