Battle of the River Trebia

I played the Battle of the River Trebia and I finally succeeded in hard level. However, I don't find it easy, but quite enjoyable because of the variety of units in Carthage side. My strategy is to stand with infantry units and try to harass rome cavalry with the rear Carthage cavalry and then push from the rear and then charge with elephants, creating confusion in Rome's army and then attack with Carthage's infantry units. Is the only way I found to offset the huge difference between the Rome's units advantage over Carthage's ones. However, if my cavalry surrender and/or my elephants, I lose.

Do you have critical/constructive advice for this battle? Thank you in advance.
