Default Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord - Available on Steam 31st of March 2020

    https://store.steampowered.com/app/2...II_Bannerlord/

    31st of March 2020!

Finally, after 10+ years, Mount & Blade Bannerlord will be available on Steam TO PURCHASE! Finally we can play it. So so long...

In other words, the game will be released in Early Access which is not something people are happy about but we can't wait any longer. We want to play and I'll take it. Some more info about EA below.

“Early access is something that we are very familiar with: our first title, Mount & Blade, helped to pioneer this method of release back in 2005. By working alongside our community we were able to deliver a unique gaming experience that players still enjoy to this day. These past experiences have taught us that it is vital to bring players in to help us iron out any issues and refine the game by utilizing feedback to bring it to the level that both our community and we expect.

We are hoping to run a productive and efficient early access for M&B Bannerlord as well. However, due to the nature and scale of game that we have envisioned, there may be various problems or missing features and content during the course of early access. Here are a few aspects you may need to know:

Unique Maps for Towns, Castles and Village: Although we plan to create unique maps for every town and castle in the game, it is a rather arduous process to create that many well designed maps and as such, different locations may share the same map during early access.

Quest Content: A portion of planned quests may be missing entirely, and those in the game may be using placeholder maps, animations, etc.

Balancing: Various aspects of the game may be poorly balanced. Parts of the game may be too easy or too hard.

Voice overs: Since the game uses a lot of dynamic text and hundreds of NPCs, we are planning to record voice-overs for only a limited subset of the dialog (greetings, companion introductions and main quest). Some of these planned voice overs may be missing or using placeholder versions during EA.

Savegames: We will strive to keep savegame compatibility during EA, however it may be technically infeasible to provide 100% backward compatibility in savegames and you may occasionally have to start a new game after updating to a new version.

Bugs and glitches: Although we strive to create a stable game experience, the game will be actively developed during early access and hence there will be a greater chance of bugs and glitches creeping up. It will of course be a priority to fix these.

Localization: Our current plan is to localize the game into the following languages: French, Italian, German, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish (Latin American) and Turkish. Other languages may be added later. During EA, localizations for these languages may be missing entirely or may be incomplete.

Multiplayer modes and features: The game currently supports several popular multiplayer modes, but we are planning to add more modes and features, possibly including ranked matchmaking.

Singleplayer Features: Several planned single player features may be missing or incomplete. These include but are not limited to: full game controller support, some skill and perk effects, crafting, some aspects of sieges, and clan, army and kingdom management.

Developing M&B Bannerlord has been, and continues to be a fabulous experience for us, and we are excited to be walking the final phase of this journey together with our players. Of course, you may prefer to wait a little bit longer and hold off until the final, finished product. In this case, please consider adding the game to your wishlist and you’ll receive an email when we release the full version.”

I’m considering buying it. Never played the original but heard great things from a mate of mine.

i will surely buy this eventually. probably need a better computer first, even though the first game ran surprisingly well on a very old office-grade computer.

M&B Warband really impressed me. i had not been that taken by a game since Total War Shogun. compared to the rather stiff and predictable battles of TW-games, this was almost real. which again was the experience of TW Shogun, compared to Lords of the Realm.
sure, some of the controls a bit awkward. yet the ability to knock down an enemy knight and ride of with his horse, grand theft medieval style, pure awesome. good times.

I am not sure how to feel about this Early Access date. The wait have been so long I kind of just feel emotionally tired. (I know it sounds ridiculous to say something like that for just a game)

For now I think I am just going to wait the EA date and see how people feel about the game. I rather not try it and feel down again in case too many features are missing.

I've had a couple of hours with the BETA, I got eventually selected which was a very nice surprise - MP only BETA, the singleplayer aspect was not included in it. Fine by me, I just wanted to get my hands on it!

To be fair, it's a significant improvement over Warband (which I love) but it feels like a significant upgrade, rather than a completely new chapter, which I found a bit underwhelming. For 10 years of development I expected a bit more in this so that part was a bit underwhelming.

You will see a lot of improvements, a lot of great things added to it and the combat being the same is a huge plus because that's what makes M&B special. Another big plus is that this time they decided to get close to the historical counterparts of it rather than just keep the original lore which makes it much more relatable to a lot of people. Case in point, the Empire is basically the Byzantine Empire, because you also have some sort of Cataphracts as playable classes within the MP game. You also get much more variety in terms of playable factions, you get factions which are various mixes in between them, so again, a significant improvement over Warband where you had a lot of times just a specific type of battles. (Rhodoks and their crossbowmen + infantry was a bore fest)

And speaking of classes, you now get classes only MP (which a lot of people didn't like) so you have to carefully manage what class you get based on your battle performance. It adds a strategic aspect to your game but I understand why some people were upset over it.

All in all - super ultra excited for Singleplayer.

I would like to buy this game but probably I will not do it. I don't want to support the Turkish economy as long the country is ruled by an imperialist dictator.

    Whatever ...

Since I'm stuck home like most people with this Coronavirus Apocalypse, I might as well have some fun with Bannerlord while killing time. So I changed my mind about the Early Access.

In Warband I liked to play as a Sarranid vassal and recruit some Khergit reinforcement to make it look like a medieval Islamic warband. Unfortunately, it seems their successor (should I say predecessor ?) factions do not share a border in Bannerlord. I guess I will need to find an alternative solution to recruit some ghilman soldiers. Hopefully the sub-factions will be implemented already.

And due to our currency being in the dumps atm, the Steam price is lower than than bigger discounts elsewhere. Got an hour in the game so far, I'm liking it

yes, occasionally, there was a scene in the forest where its got really choppy with only a dozen of troops. and i couldnt run 250x250 battle, awful stutter. I've got 2060 RTX, i7 i7 4790 CPU, 16 gb of RAM etc running on 1440p. but its exception to the rule. Played for a while and it only happened on these two occasions. I am sure they will continue optimising it.

Here are my first impressions, if anyone's curious. I absolutely loved it so far!

oh, and there is a link to the video by HfoHavoc in there, for 22% off.

I haven't encountered any performance issues, running smooth with a gtx 1070 and i7 4790 on 1440p resolution. Having fun so far

The sales for the game have been exceptional - 180.000 simultaneous players at some point. Biggest release of 2020 most probably.

My top tips so far: Get loot, always loot everything from battles, sell stuff. Tournaments are everywhere and easy to win, do as much as you can and always bet max. And escorting caravan quests gives ya a lot of cash, those are neat.

For now I am specializing in trade. I do caravan trades myself (I have not try the caravan features yet). Within 125 days ingame I already made a lot of money.

Right now I stand at 15k as I spent some times experimenting other aspects of the games. And I have spent quite a lot of money in equipment too. Including a shiny leopard pelt (800 the item).
I also bought some equipment for my companions so they don't wander aimlessly on the battlefield in civilians clothes and without shields.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Therefore I present you Thaqir, son of merchants, making himself a fortune. And Asta the Shieldmaiden with the kind of equipment I brought for all my NPC followers.

    ---

    Edit :

it is very easy to make a ton of money with short range trade. Just now, I brought a total worth of +500 goods in Praven and I sold it all for 1500 in Ocs Hall. It took me only one day to reach Ocs Hall from Praven.
Due to the sharp fluctuation in prices, it is preferable to focus on short to medium range trade. So the price margin you heard about is still relatively true by the time you reached your destination and whatever earning you do is not eaten by your party's salaries during the travel.
