Thread: Game decides and places governor on settlement

Default Game decides and places governor on settlement

We know that the game decides by itself which character will be the real governor in a city. It ignores PT's, and other beneficial traits and enforces a character you might now want. Usually this is not a problem, since you can barely have more characters than cities, but in the capital, where your best university is for Admins and in a Citadel for the militaries, this can be a problem. Usually these 14 y.o. noobs rarely have better traits than the governor, but this can happen. You lose some income and ofc the population drops. It is a bit annoying, and I hope there can be a way to chose who will be the governor of a city among several generals in there simultaneously. The effects are not that important, but if your fortress is at 29k pop and it has a +0.5% growth, and the new governor sets it at -1.5%, oh well, this is really a set off.

Actually, it's the Piety of the general that decides which character will be the real governor in a city. The engine indeed doesn't know about PTs. You may control to some extent who is the governor in the capital by giving him an acillary with Piety bonus (eg. the Keeper of the Privy Seal or any PT giving piety or a Librarian). And simply choose somebody pious.
Otherwise, just role-play: mother of that 14 y.o. noob sleeps with your Faction Leader so she can get to his child some priviliges.

Piety? Is there some special thing that Piety does to a settlement? Can this mechanics be changed or something?

And what if that 14 y.o. is a bot and not a human?

This is a residual of the Rome TW engine. There's Influence, and it was renamed Piety by the M2TW developers. And they didn't change this one aspect (and perhaps many other aspects, the vanilla M2TW is full of bugs and inconsistencies).

    I don't deal with bots, I don't know.

Is there a way to mod it guys? Have a way to manually choose a governor? For example the last guy that enters the city in that turn?
